Re: Skins lions post game
Kelly is faster than Jones, I think that is pretty obvious, and he runs harder.

Players coaches generally don't win. Disciplined coaches do. I'd rather a Belichick, Parcells, Johnson type of coach than a Gruden, Dungy, Ryan. Being a players coach doesn't cut it. This is about winning. If it means a man loses his job then so be it. He's being paid to do a job. If he can't do it, find somebody who can. It's obvious that Jones can't do the job. Gruden has given Jones enough time and patience. It's time to turn the page. Gruden's job and our wins depend on it. |
So we should just be done with Jones?
I would make him inactive the next two games and then give him his final chance. If he fumbles again, he's done. A message needs to be sent. Do your job or find another one. Period. |

And this is why fans are fans...lol. You can't just cut the guy after the season. He's still a good football player. Do you remember Tiki Barber? He had the same issues and cured them. Not comparing the two, they're different runners, but Jones can fix this. I think the question regarding Jones is should he continue to be the starter? I say he should be but you get Kelly in there a little more, and keep mixing in Thompson. Thompson to me is clearly our best RB but he obviously isn't built to carry the load. |

Tiki didn't cure them, he just minimized them the last 2 years of his career. For most of it, he fumbled a lot. That said, He was also producing 1,000+ yards each season as well, so it's hard to compare Jones to Tiki. Jones is currently fumbling 1 time for every 30 carries. |

What is Gary Kubiak? He sure couldn't get over the hump in Houston, then he got a great defense and now he's a SB winning coach. Or what about Dick Vermeil? No one was harder on players than that guy was. He couldn't win until he gets Faulk, Warner, Bruce, Holt and he wins a SB. In the end it's still about players and currently we don't have enough good ones. |
Re: Skins lions post game
Should we be done with Jones? Probably not. He has talent. Tiki Barber had some fumbling issues earlier in his career and it almost ended it. Then, one entire off season, he focused on learning to improve his grip on the ball, solved his fumbling problem, and moved on to a productive career. Perhaps Jones can do the same.
I don't know what Kelley needs to show to get more carries. Every time he is in, he runs hard & low. He always seems to fall forward and just keeps driving. He has broken long runs. I don't know what his blitz pick-up skills are like, but I don't know if Jones' are all that much better. I know I don't make the big bucks, but, after that second fumble, I would walked over to Matt and said something to the effect of "Take the rest of the afternoon off" and gone with Kelley and Thompson the rest of the way. Fumbles are just too damn costly - as demonstrated by yesterday's loss. |

This isn't Matt Jones third fumble. This is his 8th in 243 attempts. That's about 1 fumble for every 30 carries. No, this is the time to instill discipline in the team and let them know it's not going to be tolerated. I can live with mistakes, just not mistakes that continue to be a pattern. I'm not saying he should be cut, just made inactive for couple games and given a final chance. |

Re: Skins lions post game
I would minimize Jones' carries and give the goal line stuff to Kelly. If Jones fumbles again he needs to be benched.

https://twitter.com/MikeJonesWaPo/status/790595698429300736 When do the Redskins need to leave for London? Given this, I wonder if JNo has any shot at playing next week. I know it is a toss up with concussions, I just feel that the trip to London will add another degree of difficulty.
Typical absence for concussions is about 2 weeks, since this concussion protocol has gone into place. Reed has been out two weeks, Cravens just came back after a two week absence, and Reed's absence last year was two weeks. There's no way Norman plays this week. Sucks, because he's the only one that has a shot against AJ Green. We'll need to plan to win a shoot out. |
Re: Skins lions post game
I wouldnt do anything rash right now but I do not want Jones as our feature back next year.
Pretty sure we can do better. |

I don't say it about players but yeah. The man lead the NFL in fumbles as a back up last season and it doesn't seem to be getting better and his talent isn't enough to mask his troubles |
He should not be aloud to touch the ball. And released if we need the roster spot. He has cost us more than one game fumbling.
Maybe he can touch it in silence? |
