It doesn't solve 100% of the problem, but i think it sends the message that "oh shit, i better perform because if I don't, i'm gone". Fire them up so to speak.

I was calling for Cousins head at the beginning of the year because he was playing like garbage and basically losing us games with his backbreaking interceptions. I think he knew that he was on a short leash if it didn't get better and he manned up and look at how good he is doing now.

If nothing else, bring in some FA kickers and work them out at Redskins Park, at least get in Hopkins head that they are looking at his position now and if he starts sucking, he's gone. Some players respond well from pressure like that and someone breathing on their neck, some don't. Not sure which kind hopkins is.

Honestly, I think to get to this level, you pretty much have to dedicate your life to the game. So when you fail, this has to be terrible. Hopkins right now has to feel like sh*t. He knows he lost the game, failing to do the only thing he's being paid for.

I'm really not sure he needs added pressure.

I would agree that bringing the threat of losing your job could be a good tool with, for say, a lazy ass defense not tackling properly.

But right now I think the only pressure Hopkins needs is from himself, and his teammates, saying "Man, we know you're better than that, you lost us one, now win us some".

I think Hopkins has certainly earned enough of leash that his job is safe. If he was brand new then maybe, but as I said, he's made plenty of big kicks around here. If you cut him then you're bringing back in guys like Forbath. No thanks.

Seriously. Let's bring in more guys to get in his head, while the reason he's missing kicks isn't because he's not talented, it's because he's in a mental funk.

Hopkins did not lose this game...for petes sake..he made the FG at end of regulation to save us a loss! The 4th down go for it early in game in field goal range was costly.. the kickoff return that led to there td was costly. there was a lot of reasons we did not win..

The only thing I would of changed. Is after the timeout by Marvin Lewis. I would of put my offense back out there like I was going to run a play now and try to lure defense offsides. Worse thing that happens is you call a timeout and put Hopkins back out there just to break the ice.

I'm not sure. He had just made the practice kick and your idea would have the effect of icing him longer.
