He basically ,means without Wentz coming from a Small school and being pretty good, why would you take a QB from Wyoming in the 1st?

Wyoming's coaches initially visited Reedley to scout another potential transfer,[1] but former Fresno State assistant Dave Brown, who had since become part of the inaugural staff of new Cowboys head coach Craig Bohl, was familiar with Allen, and urged offensive coordinator Brett Vigen to recruit him.[2] While researching Allen, Vigen noticed a large number of parallels between Allen and a quarterback whom he had recruited in 2010 while serving in the same role at North Dakota State—Carson Wentz, who went on to become an starting quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. Wentz was similar in size to Allen, and also shared Allen's small-town, multi-sport, and late-blooming background.[2] Bohl soon warmed to Allen as a prospect, especially after the quarterback prospect his staff had initially targeted committed to Syracuse. He's going to be the face of our program."[1] Despite receiving an offer from Wyoming, Allen made one final pitch to Fresno State's staff, sending a pointed email to an assistant referencing the fact that the team had received a commitment from a quarterback prospect who was both shorter and lighter than Allen was when Fresno State turned him down in high school.[1] After being rebuffed, he committed to Wyoming, enrolling there prior to the 2015 season.[3]

In his first year at Wyoming, he played in two games and made one start. In his first career start he attempted only four passes before suffering a broken collarbone which ended his season; because the injury occurred early in the season, he qualified for a medical redshirt.[4][5] Allen returned from the injury in 2016 and was Wyoming's starter.[6][7]

After throwing for over 3,200 yards and 28 touchdowns in 2016, he contemplated declaring for the 2017 NFL draft, initially telling his family, girlfriend, and a few friends that he would turn pro.[1] Shortly before the deadline to declare for the draft, Vigen called Allen's father to explain why he should stay at Wyoming an extra year; according to Eisenberg, "When Joel Allen got off the phone and entered his son’s room, he found his son riddled with anxiety about his decision."[2] Before the draft declaration deadline, Bohl told Allen that staying in school one more year would improve his long-term NFL prospects, and Allen also sought advice from Wentz, who told him that in the NFL, he would have many league veterans depending on him to "win games and help secure their jobs."[1] Allen ultimately remained at Wyoming.

i actually think Josh Allen would be the perfect Qb for Gruden. Love his Arm and size. Yes hes raw. But if there is one thing i trust about Gruden, its his ability to coach up a QB.
Hew would be my dream qb pick at 13 - but i dont think that he will last that long.

also several years ago I said wentz was overrated and wouldn’t be worth a 1st round selection...big time wrong.

I just worry about hype factor with Allen. But sign cousins and we’re good.

All QBs worthy of going in round 1 come with lots and lots of hype. Allen looks like the real deal to me.

Also, saw some discussion on here about Vita Vea. Don't you guys feel like he's really slow off the ball? I watched a bunch of cut ups on YouTube, he's so strong but the last one to come out of his stance consistently.

If defensive line is the play, the only way to go is Christian Wilkins from Clemson. Quick, long armed, and strong as hell. Basically another J Allen.

We should put the small school QB caveat to rest. It's about the player and not the school. Here is a list of current starting NFL QB's from small schools:

Joe Flacco, Delaware
Big Ben, Miami (Ohio)
Derek Carr, Fresno State
Blake Bortles, UCF
Josh McCown, Sam Houston State
Jimmy Garrapalo, E. Illinois

Here is a list of past NFL QB's from small schools:

Kenny Anderson, Augustana
Tony Romo, E. Illinois
Phil Simms, Morehead State (KY)
Doug Williams, Grambling
Daunte Culpepper, UCF

I'm sure there are many more NFL QB's from small schools who I can't recall right now.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of him in the 1st round (Vita).

C. Ferrell from Clemson looks like a hog at OLB, nickel DE.

I also like DaRon Payne from Bama if we go DL. I dont think we do in round 1 though

Vita Vea is a first rounder all day long. I think he is just what we need if we're going to continue to play a 3-4. It is very difficult to find a dominating NT and he is a lock to dominate, IMO. Like any rookie, he has some things to work on but the size, strength, and athletic ability are already there.

Vea is a player who was routinely double-teamed and sometimes triple-teamed in college. He is a real load against the run but he is also very good at pushing the pocket. He has a burst and a great motor. He also moves well laterally.

Were talking about a 6-4, 350 lb. presence in the middle. He is the kind of player we should want next to a speed rusher. That's because he will demand a double team and free up other defensive linemen.

Clemson will now have 4 defensive lineman selected in the 1st round next year. These guys are all 1st rounders going back, thats nuts. Clemson must be a fun place to go to school. As FSU fan, this sucks, those dudes are dominant.

Clemson will be the best team in college next yr, that freshman QB they have coming in is apparently football jesus... Bama is losing alot of guys but I'm sure they will be a playoff team again.
