Richard Rodgers sucks lol. Dude hasnt been good in years and really only had one solid season with one of the best QBs ever. Unless Thomas turns into Kelce we are going to be really bad on O again. Expect a ton of short yardage throws to Terry and the RBs.

If Thomas is our starting TE that would be beyond absurd. Our 3rd or 1st 4th round choice should be a TE if he is anywhere near BPA.

Well THIS is pretty funny. Vegas just issued new lines for next season's college football games ...

My Louisville Cardinals have jumped to a 4 point favorite over the Kentucky Mildcats.

The Greg Manusky Effect in full force I guess.

The Skins D will have to improve simply by removing that clown. Right??

We'd improve if we let a high school coach run our defense.

The Texans guy reminds me of some of the clowns in my fantasy league.

The sad thing is, we could've easily taken advantage of that last year .... <start.beat.dead.horse>but our front office wouldn't pull the trigger when we had the most leverage<end.beat.dead.horse>.

Now we're like John Candy in Planes Trains and Automobiles ... trying to get a hotel room with 2 dollars and a casio.

I think Hopkins wanted a new deal was the trigger. I think Obrien just wanted him moved so it wouldnt linger. But you cant do that for high end young talent.

I dont know how hard he was pushing .. we kinda did the same thing with Dunbar (although several tiers below Hopkins so you can move a malcontent like Dunbar without getting push back)

Kinda like cutting your nose off despite your face. Yes you didnt want discord growing from Hopkins but just moving for a 2nd ... you caused more discord by moving him vs keeping him and dealing with whatever headache may arise.

Trents situation is the outlier ... and you see what can happen if you dont move a disgruntled talent.

You end up paying him half his salary anyway, he plays zero downs for you, he gets 1 year older and less valuable ... and there is the periodic agent comment or leak meant to make your organization look incompetent.

I don't necessarily think trading him was the issue, it was the shitty ass return. Cardinals stole a top 5 NFL receiver. C'mon Bill! Get it together. I want the Texans to be good. Be the best team in Texas.

I think OBrien pulled the trigger to early but who knows how strong Hopkins team was in demanding a new deal or trade.

if that was the best deal available after a few weeks of fielding calls ... I guess he felt he wanted to move Hopkins vs dealing with a hold out/headache/possible Trent situation.

Hopkins wanting a new deal or trade = shitty deal.

Hindsight, Im guessing Obrien wished he held tight and see how things truly unfolded vs his perception of how they would unfold.

Can't help thinking Hopkins has been on top 5 form, so why not just pay him commensurate with that? I suspect there was a little more than 'pay me or trade me'.

I just can't bring myself to believe that was the case. I just think that Bill O'Brien is a horrible GM because that deal was atrocious by any standard. The fact that he took on a huge salary/cap obligation for a fading RB who just had a bad season makes no sense to me whatsoever.

Now, he has just made another horrible deal with LAR for an overpaid WR with a poor injury history and inconsistent production instead or using that 2nd Round pick on a younger, cheaper WR in a deep WR class.

The problem is Bill O'Brien and not any circumstances that were imposed on him. He simply SUCKS as a GM.
