I don't hate DH. I don't know him well enough from what I have seen to come to that conclusion. I always feel I need to know someone before I can say I hate them, or have the weight of historical evidence steer me in that direction.

Having said that, I have absolutely no sympathy for him. He seems to me to have had his eye on the NFL as a cash cow to set him up for life with no consideration for his legacy. He opted to go to the NFL with only 1 year of college in the bank which smells of arrogance and greed; nobody forced him into that decision. His behaviour over the last 2 years hasn't been the worst (he hasn't beaten anyone up, robbed anyone etc.) but it smacks of an entitled attitude and a belief that he's earned his spot with what he's done to date (wrong!). If he's picked up by another team I'll be surprised but there's always someone who thinks that they can be a saviour. Swallow the cap loss and be rid of him. Move on and draft someone with all the character traits DH is missing, as a leader and potential franchise QB. I think RR knows that but he'd be cutting off his nose to spite his faced by releasing DH before the season is over. He'll be gone when it makes financial sense to do so.

And I hear the argument for giving your team the best chance vs establishing culture.

But there is a benefit/risk balance to be found in this decision IMO. And if there was any indication during the week that this was the kind of performance he could put out, then the balance shifts towards make a culture statement, because anyway he's not giving us that big of an upside right now.

Chase Young finished Sunday's game with a 93.7 overall grade which is the highest grade of his career.

5 total pressures, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble, 3 defensive stops. DROY.

Also Heineke had a 82 Grade.

Taylor Heineke is not the answer but he's the best non-Alex option we have to finish this season. Hopefully Alex can play Sunday but I wouldn't bank on it.

Thank you OK .. he was going up against 2-3 string LT most of the game but jack does move him around.

Rivera seems to have an affinity for Alex. Going to be interesting on how that plays out. I imagine Alex will try to play 1 more year, but that's just a guess. I think we will keep him and Allen/Heinicke and trade for/draft QB. Although if we're paying Alex don't think we'd also be able to pay another veteran. More likely we're drafting our next QB.

Heinicke's challenge in the NFL has never been about his arm, reading defenses, or ability to make good decisions on the field. Rather, his small stature has made him injury-prone when he takes a hit, which with his scrambling ability is going to happen often.

Best scenario (no DH is gone), AS is recovered enough to beat the Eagles and play the 1st (and honestly I expect only playoff game), then realises he's done what he set out to do when he started his road back and retire 'on his terms'. We then have the ability to bring in an FA who can play 1-2 years saving us from reaching in the draft or suffering a monster trade to get our guy. We draft a good prospect outside the 1st round who turns out to be Cousins+.

Bad scenario, AS holds on for another year, maybe backing up a draft pick that proves another lost cause and we're drafting QB yet again in 2022. Possible but if I'm RR I'm having a serious conversation with Alex about retiring, and maybe taking a coaching role instead of playing out his contract.

Worst scenario we give up most of our draft to pick higher and get another bust with no talent around him. I don't see this scenario happening with RR.

Any idea who the veteran QB FA's are? Wouldn't mind that route but that's a tough or very expensive way to find a starter.

I'd entertain Fitz if he actually leaves Miami. Bring back Kyle Allen maybe if we can't land a more solid interim starter. Not many on that list interest me much.

Good scenario if he's affordable (I doubt he will be and I reckon the Lions will retain him for at least 1 more year); get Stafford in a trade.
