Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
Last off-season RR and his front office people tried to "fix" a young secondary that wasn't broken. They cut good young players and replaced them with older veterans who have failed to produce. The best of those young players was, of course, picked up by another team. Is that the way to build a team?
Now, they have turned a highly paid veteran player (Collins) into a role player. RR has lost sight of what he was brought in to do which was to acquire and develop young players to build a perennial contender.
Can we just stop it with all the Jimmy Moreland love already. The dude hasn't played one defensive snap for a Houston Texans team whose defense has given up the third most points in the NFL so far. He hasn't sniffed the field, with the exception of a handful of special teams reps... |

+1 Easy to second guess Ron's decision making because our D is still pretty bad 7 weeks into the season, but this is not a decision I'm questioning. |

It isn’t like he didn’t have plenty of chances. Dude sucks. He sucks less playing LB. Not sure what Rons options were there. |

Im certainly not going to act like he was the next Darrell Green, but I liked him. He played well here whenever he was given the opportunity. I thought he would develop into a good player for us. Thought he already had. I didn’t like the move. Can’t explain whats going on with him in Houston but he was good here. |
Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
The above post. He played decent to well here and tackled decent to well, too. Misguided release.

Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
I liked him too, but in my opinion St. Juste is playing better through seven games than Jimmy was after two seasons. Jimmy had two years to develop into a better player, but right now he'd still be the #4 CB - on the bench just like he is in Houston.

I think there are other players who made this roster riding the pine who bring nothing to the table. Moreland bought something to the table. Depth depth depth - quality depth all day. |
Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
They haven't performed well as of yet, but I like the quality and depth of this year's secondary compared to last years. Jimmy Moreland's presence on the 53 wouldn't change anything with regard to how good or bad this defense is.
I just find it a little 'weird' how much angst there is/was regarding his release. Of all the decisions to be up in arms about, that's probably one of the very last on my list. |

BTW we had the 2nd pick. I wonder if we had one in the draft if we still had taken CY because we were good with DH, thus passing over Burrows. |
Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
Amazing how much run Jimmy Moreland gets by some fans. According to Pro Football Reference he hasn't played a single defensive snap for Houston and has played all but 5 on ST.

But when he was here he was getting better. I certainly thought he had more to offer than others they chose to keep. I know it is usually the opposite but maybe we bought out the best in him. Maybe he was thankful for the chance. |
Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
Maybe he's not very good and he was just another training camp hero. He can't even get on the field for Houston.

He played in almost every game for us over two years, started in 10 and knew how to tackle. Not sure why he is riding the pine there but I liked his play here. To me it was just a questionable cut. But whatever it isn’t the end of the world. |
Re: WFT v. Packers Good Loss post-game
I mean, just based on what I saw in the games I would have probably kept him over Apke, but it's not a move that keeps me up at night.
