Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
If Miami doesn't take Merling, he's ours at 34.
Well there goes a DE with our first pick. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Merling gone. Now we get Balmer at good value
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Well we can forget Phillip Merling. Damn Bill Parcells!
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
yep pretty much
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
The only similarity between the two is that they went to the U. Phillips is no Taylor ... or Reed.
You say that based on what? Hes not better than taylor, but hes got the size and speed. hits hard, ball hawks...hes a great player and since high school has been compared to those two. we'll see how he turns out but its not like he only got picked because he went to miami |
Merling gone. Now we get Balmer at good value
Balmer went to the 49ers. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Limas Sweed or Malcolm Kelly.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Watch -- we'll still wind up with the same group of WRs we passed up before.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I've been watching NFLN and just saw MeShawn's outift....hideous.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Now we will probably reach on Calais Campbell at #34.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
come on calais campbell!!!
then linas sweed!!! (probably needs to trade to get him) |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
settle on calais campbell
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Balmer went to the 49ers.
I need to wake the hell up.... Probably Thomas or Sweed here and then Laws or Harrision with our 48 |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Tyrell Johnson since Kenny Phillips is gone.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
we'll see how he turns out but its not like he only got picked because he went to miami
And I didn't say that. The guy was saying "whoa betide the Redskins, Sean Taylor Jr. plays for the Giants". I'm saying he's not nearly the player that Taylor was. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
WTF, Donnie Avery?
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Hell trade down again. Nobody is standing out here.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Devin Thomas.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
It's Devin Thomas.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Thomas is not terrible at this spot, but did have drops in Bowl game. Hopefully Harrison or Laws with the 48.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Wow hard to believe Thomas fell that far, good value for where we got him
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Well, I guess that's that for Jordy Nelson. Anyone think Campbell is still there for our next pick?
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Nice pick from everything I've heard about him. Only true #1 in the draft was how I've heard him described by people who know. Now we have 2 more picks this round. I thought Devin Thomas might be the guy at #21. I like it. Props to the FO.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Okay. good enough.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Well, Mel loves it.
Good value at this pick. He's got the size. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I really like Thomas at this pick. Good value for a guy a lot of folks thought would go at #11 overall.
As for the next pick, yes, I think it'll be Campbell. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Wow, Devin Thomas in the second round. Great size and speed, excellent pick. He will definitely help out the redskins immediately.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I'd like to see Dan Connor with one of our two remaining picks in this round.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I was opposed to taking a wideout @ 21, but getting Thomas @ 34 is great value. GTripp is going to poop himself though.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
i wanted a taller guy, but good value i suppose.
|

Agreed well played by the FO. I think this will turn out to be a good draft overall. I wonder how the Snyderatto bashers will spin it. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
how tough is devin
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Thomas is great after the catch and should be a natural for the WCO.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Next pick is Campbell.
|

He will for sure. But this is a good pick at #34. He's big and familiar with the WCO. I don't buy the "one year wonder" argument. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
I guess we got good value for Devin Thomas but I'd rather have taken someone like James Hardy or Jordy Nelson. I just don't feel comfortable that he had one good season, he had 6 receptions two years ago. Jordy Nelson just went to Green Bay.
|
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Trade down? Are you kidding me? The draft is about quality not quantity. We were stupid for giving up #21. WE get two mid second round picks in a lame draft year? Unless we go for a WR, we are not going to get quality people this draft. Although we might be able to still land a decent LB, CB, or S that will make a positive impact on us. Anyone picked up after round 3-4 will just be a waste of space or practice squad fodder for a season or two then released. At #21 we still could have landed a decent D linemen or guaranteed getting the best WR or S in the draft. I know it is a relatively thin year for talent, but you still have to go for top quality. More picks when the pickings are slim doesn't help you.

Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Go Skins!

I didn't throw the laptop, I like this at # 34, good value. Jordy at # 36 is a big reach. |
Re: The official 2008 draft discussion thread
Well, I guess that's that for Jordy Nelson.
...and C. Johnson, and A. Boldin, and R. Williams et al. Thankfully. |
