well thats why I said that he's needs to change that ugly number, because Madieu Williams, Kareem Moore, and Matt Bowen all wore that number.
42 Is good. Like Matty said thats Ronny Lotts number. Also was Darren Sharpers number. 43 is also a good number with Polamalu wearing it. 44 NOT HAPPENING (Riggo) 45 Ugly number and Mike Sellers wears it 46 Alfred has something to say about that 47 John Lynch did a damn good job in this league. But Cooley fans will go bonkers over it. 48 Bernstein Bear has it now, but if he's cut thats a better number than 41 49 ehh better than 41 but I think 49 is retired for Bobby Mitchell.
Jenkins has 47 |

So did I, best safety I've ever seen. I would rate him slightly higher than Ronnie Lott due to homerism and 12 Pro-bowls vs 10 for Lott. |

Redskins Hall of Famer Charley Taylor wore #42. The great Redskins RB Larry Brown wore #43. I might be mistaken, but I don't think the Redskins have any retired numbers. Instead, there are certain numbers that are not given out in respect for great Redskins players. Upon further reflection, I seem to recall that there might be one retired number. I think number 33 might be retired in honor of Sammy Baugh, but I'm not sure. BTW, I thought that Matt Bowen played well when he was with the Redskins. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
33 is the only retired number. Others are out of the rotation like 28, 44, 81, etc.
|
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
The Redskins once mistakenly gave out #49 after Bobby Mitchell retired and he was deeply offended by that perceived slight. As far as I know, they haven't made that type of mistake since then.

I agree and I don't think it's homerism. Lott was very good but got a lot of press because his team. Ken Houston just balled. |

Ken Houston was a hell of a safety. Had a Hall Of Fame career. The only reason #27 isn't retired is because Houston played for the Oilers years before he came to Washington. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
So I saw at the bottom of the ticker that Shanny is envisioning Phillip Thomas as the FS and Bacarri Rambo as the SS.
|
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
Amerson already stated that his lame # 39 is only temporary. I knew he would just wait until after camp until one of the 20's open up.

Amerson should wear 24

Hmm interesting, I thought it would be opposite. It would be awesome if both players could play both positions though. |

Yeah, I would have thought the same thing too... Oh well, I guess Matt Bowen was right then. |

Bottom of what ticker? And thats odd. I see Phillip as a SS and Rambo as a FS. Then again the Giants play Antre Rolle who is the better athlete/cover guy at SS and Kenny Phillips at FS |

NFL Network. This is what I pictured as well when we drafted them. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
I really don't think in the long term picture of these two players careers that we need to worry to about wear the head coach is projecting either one of these players. It may turn out to be wear each belongs and it may not . We all know Has will most likely use both at each position anyway. Don't get to hung up on labels before they have even had a padded practice.

From the reports that I've been reading via Washington Post, Rambo will be the SS and Thomas will be the FS. I really don't think it makes much of a difference what safety position they both play because they both can play both positions. Jim Haslett might end up having them both play each safety position interchangeably. |

I've been reading from Zack Boyer that the Redskins have been using both of them at both positions and have been asking them to cover guys in the slot as well. I'm very very intrigued to see how they do in training camp. side note is that Jordan Reed sat out with a bruised knee. |

A bit of a write up, and a video
Rambo looks fluid in that last drill, Amerson, not so much. He shows little hip tightness I guess but, it's not the only determining factor of his coverage ability. |

I too love what I'm hearing about these DBs. But before we all start going crazy keep this in mind: They aren't in pads. And they aren't going against starters. They're going against mostly practice squaders unless this alpin guy is the next Kurt Warner and these WRs are the next welker's and Cruz's.

You have a point that they arent going against NFL talent. However, Im sure there was more than one time through the rookie camp where Haslett and/or Raheem thought to themselves that they were dealing with safeties that are better than what we had last year. I believe its pretty easy to say that we upgraded the secondary, even without having seen them in full action yet. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
I think I read a comment in Kliem's article on the Examiner summing up today's festivities where he actually quoted Raheem to actually saying something to that effect out loud. :)

I believe most of our starters will stay the same, just a year older. We have not signed ANYONE that is a definite upgrade, or even a definite starter over what we already had. Again, jus sayin. |
