Place kickers and punters are usually an after thought on teams that have good offenses. I am a transplant Redskin fan since I moved east in 2011. I left my 40 years of 49er fandom in Cali when I left. I used to go to a couple 49er fan websites. Most the older guys like me (Late 50's on up) could not name one of the place kickers or punters on the 80's teams. |

naw...I love some Jacoby...But a healthy TW is a load and is an amazing athlete. Silverback > Jacoby |

Silverback > Jacoby
I'm curious how people would rank: Jacoby - Samuels - Trent |

I wouldn't leave out Lachey

I'd say it's safe that we all can agree on LT being the best position in Redskins history

Nope |
Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread
Not so much lately, but we've had some damn good corners too. Darrell and Champ, even though Champ was a Bronco for longer than he was a Skin, those were four very good years.

Silverback > Jacoby
I am not sure the comparison is fair. They are both very different. Jacoby was 6'7" 325 at a time very few were that big. Plus he had the footspeed to pull on the counter trey like nobody else that size. Jacoby used to battle one on one with Lawrence Taylor, Reggie White and Ed too Tall Jones twice a year. I am not sure there is anyone in the NFC east right now that is as good as Lawrence Taylor and Reggie White. When both are healthy TW is maybe a little better than Jacoby, but TW has had some knee problems that have made him miss some time and makes him susceptible to injury. Jacoby did not. It is very close. |

Indeed. So my updated comparison list: Lachey - Jacoby - Samuels - T. Williams I think the case for Trent would be that a lot of people would put him and Tyrone Smith as the best tackles in the league. And yeah, we've had some damn good left tackles. |

He was great. Jay Schroeder for Jim Lachey - We made out out very well on that trade.... |

On top of that the quality of the defenses that Jacoby played against were 2nd to none. People may not remember but the Eagles literally had some of the best defenses ever back in those days. Truly great defenses. We all know about the Giants cause they won a couple SB's. |

This is why you always draft QB's and somehow our front office doesn't do this. Frankly it's just dumb. Stan Humphries was a good player and he was also traded. You should always have 3 QB's on your roster, a starter, a back up that could be older like Colt, and then a young guy who's there to sit, learn and compete in camp. Just using Tom Brady as another example, that first year in 2000 they wasted a roster spot because they felt he had value. Well the rest is history but you should always have a young QB waiting in the wings. Just more nonsense by our front office not to have one. If I were Snyder I would demand that Jay has 3 QB's and a effing fullback. |

To add, Jacoby played against the famed Bears 85-86 defense, Cowboys Doomsday defenses, , 49ers Montana and Young teams. Before salary cap the top teams were better and deeper than today. There were Dynasty teams and there were multiple multiple dynasty teams. Teams stayed together. Look at the Patroits and Eagles championship teams from last two year already lost players. |

Over 50% of Jacoby's snaps were against future NFL Hall of Famers. No other left tackle is close to that %.

Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread
Taking a break from the tackle talk, John Keim has a new podcast:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/john-keim-report/id1455645619?mt=2 I thought it was interesting the part where John talks about how there really isn't much out there in terms of Guard free agents. And that most of the ones are available are either coming off major injury and/or old. I look forward to when this podcast will be on twice a week. |

Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread
At this point I’m surprised Allen hasn’t signed Dez. I don’t really want to see it happen. But since were throwing cap space away I could see us giving him a Randal Cobb like contract.

When Belicheck came to Richmond to scrimmage several years ago...he raved about Reed and the trouble he gave his secondary. Pats have a lot of mid round picks and nothing at TE...you’d been a fuckin retard not to call.
