Re: Time to bench Brunell?
The QB is a very small part of this problem. Folks - our O-line is not executing. Our D-line is not putting pressure on the opposing QB. And there is an unacceptable lack of discipline as evidenced by the number of penalties being thrown our way.
The QB is a lightening rod for criticism; however, right now he is not the underlying problem. In fact - without his field savy in getting rid of the ball without a lot of turnovers, the score would have been worse. Excuses don't count ... play better! Currently we are performing poorly.
Really, what happened to his savvy when he threw that interception to Roy Williams? That one could have tied the game. In my opinion, that turnover simply deflated us, we practically threw in the towel at that point. We can all see that the Redskins have many small things that they need to work on but Brunell is the core of those problems bud, everything else is just orbiting him like the planets around the sun! |
Re: Time to bench Brunell?
One problem begets another. The offensive line woes are largely due to Brunell's inefficiencies. The line can only do so much when your offense is as predictable as ours.
Really? So Samuels getting beat around the corner is due to MB? Jansen flinching on false starts is due to MB? I'm not letting MB off the hook completely, but there were several occassions last night where it was an absolute jail break on the pass rush. |

If you can't make quick decisions then it is due to MB. I personally think it sucks that he has no gas left... I liked the guy. |
Re: Rooting for minor injury?
"The endless Brunell bashing doesn't hold much water to me. It's a very ignorant view to think that replacing the QB right now is going to solve anything.
I guess everyone calling for a QB change is just ignorant. I guess Im the Billy Madison of the site. |
Re: Time to bench Brunell?
No, those were absolutely their fault.
What I'm talking about is the poor line play overall. I think it's largely due to our predictable play calling and Brunell's inability to get the ball downfield. |
Re: Time to bench Brunell?
I have to agree with that too. I watched the Falcons game and watch them totally own the Buccaneers all day. This is the same, awesome Tampa Bay defense that we watch every year and they were totally outmanned. When are we going to dominate games like that?
Damn Matt don't take it out on me that the Skins suck. The only reason I even mentioned the TiVo was because its handy in backing up plays frame by frame. You can disagree without being an ass Matt.
Right. You question my credibility and then sit there like you're the innocent victim. Please. Sorry if you got your ass chapped about the TiVo comment, but hey I've got a DVR too and I can't see the WR routes and coverages. There are plenty of things going on that we can't see. I don't think it's as simple as saying I've got TiVo so I know what's wrong with the offense and it's all Brunell. |
Re: Time to bench Brunell?
Nobody looks comfortable in this offense. No one. If you don't accept the fact that it may take Mark a few games to grow within the offense, you might as well just throw away the season right now.
He's been missing his star RB these last two games. Yes, his play has been less than desirible, but no he isn't the big problem here. We have had no consistent running game to speak of. I would like to see him improve the third down offense, but right now the blame falls on 11 guys, not one. |

Re: Time to bench Brunell?
John Madden says Brunell is the problem.
Doc Walker says Brunell is the problem. I just do not understand why Gibbs has chosen Brunell to carry the flag. I was embarrassed for Brunell last night. He looked worse than he did in '04. |
Re: Rooting for minor injury?
nah you're fine. at one point i thought brunell might have hurt his hand or something and i'd be lying if i said that didn't cross my mind.
all in all i'd like to think that the coaches will make the right decision. we're lucky we play houston next as a W will start to make us feel better. i don't think anyone should fight too much, we're all on the same team here. you can lurk around and post as many times as you want but it doesn't mean we know crap about football. |

I said that it seemed like WRs were open but Brunnell either could not or would not make the throw. I never said that a QB change was all the offense needed, but it would certainly be a good start. At least if we had a QB that could make the throw, it would give the coaching staff some options in the play calling. Im calling for a QB change and let the pieces fall where they may. Like I said, Id rather be 4-12 with Campbell than 8-8 with Brunnell. |

can't run if you can't pass

Re: Rooting for minor injury?
we better watch it playing houston.. we do not have a good record against AFC teams.. no matter who it is look at last year. we lost to oakland just hope we can break that jinx.

when we get good qb play. not better qb play, GOOD/GREAT qb play. |
