Yeah, I think that's a picture of me watching Campbell playing in the majority of the games this year.

A lack of leadership is what the redskins had last season. Tell me I'm wrong. Campbell as qb is supposed to be one of the leaders, if not THE leader-- especially for an west coast offensive-minded team. Tell me I'm wrong.

I'd say the bigger problem was the lack of a decent offensive line.

Even with that line he posted a QB rating of 90 or better in 9 games, 5 of those games he was over 100.

But it's JC's fault for lack of leadership?

I'd say the 2 bolded lines contradict each other.

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis
Campbell showed toughness and leadership in practice and gameday (ask Malcolm Kelly about extra workouts with Jason). He took more hits and punishment than anyone else (except maybe London Fletcher delivering the punishment). Despite the season's swirling down the toilet bowl around him, he still played hard and tried to carry the team to victories even if others had given up. He's earned a LOT of respect from me.

Portis used to be my favorite Redskin but with his recent lack of heart, effort and production, he's no longer a leader and sometimes not even tolerable any more. After Sean Taylor's death, Clinton was a real leader who rallied the team and brought energy to the field to help that big run to the playoffs. Since then, he's becoming too much like Iverson, wanting to be the top guy on game day but do his own thing while the rest of the team is working hard and preparing.

Sorry, CP, I can't support you this time. Everything Jason said was true and needed to be said.

I just hope the decision to keep the real leader is made. I thank Portis for all of his past contributions and memories as the #2 all-time Redskins rusher, but it's time for him to move on or be moved. I doubt Shanahan will tolerate his running to Snyder and selfishness over what's best for the team, so maybe it's a great thing that this blew up right now as the new staff is coming in. Early enough to fix the problem (Portis) and make the decision to keep the real leader (Campbell). In my recaps of JC's stats, I have been saying for a month or so that I've been noticing some real leadership developing. This situation is proving it. Never before has he stood up to attacks and yet, he's doing it now in a way that shows he wants what's best for the entire team. I WAS speaking of on-field leadership before, but now we're seeing he can be a leader off-the-field as well.
While I agree with you JC has lead by example I think he lacked vocal leadership on the field. He needed to get in the face of a few players to wake them up and get them going. Its like after a 3rd and out where the WR missed the ball JC would just turn to the side lines and start looking at pictures. He needed to sometime approach the player tell them to get it together but I just never saw him do that. I don't mean he sould do that after ever missed ball but once in a while to let the guys know he is running the team and needs them to make those plays.

I wouldn't criticize myself if I was Portis.

Are you going to criticize Peyton Manning for that too?

Portis has been spotted in the thread! His identity is Dirtbag359!

4,057 posts? He's had time for that this season.

User title is "Playmaker"? He has a member of upper management for an avatar?

You've been exposed, Clinton.
Oh yeah, well I (Clinton Portis) have exposed you Brian Mitchell. More post then me with a two month difference in time! Always coming after me for this and that. Look Dan Snyder and I aren't even that close, but I'm telling you guys Shannahan is a great coach, I mean it's not like I'm trying to secure a job or anything. Oh and while I'm at it Bruce Allen is the best GM in the league, specially if he keeps me. Of course if either one of them decides to cut me then I must say that move is "genius".

Still B-Mitch I'm getting tired of this, I'm fetching Gilbert Arenas on your sorry ass.

By the way my line sucks, can I please get some blockas!

Re: Jason Campbells response to Portis

Campbell displayed tremendous leadership. He continued to fight despite all the backstabbing in the off-season, the lost of his best offensive linemen, running backs, tight end and the piss poor play calling. With all this adversity, he didn't once complain or come up with excuses, he just kept on plugging along. That's a true leader. It's easy when things are going well, but true leadership is demonstrated when things are falling apart.

There's no way you can bring up Peyton Manning to compare him against Campbell. He's at least one level above him.

Sure you would, one of your 10 personalities wouldn't like yourself. My guess would be Coach Janky Spanky.

Not comparing abilities, but they do have a similar work ethic. They're both film junkies and study the game. Campbell's had to with all of the offensive coordinators he's had.

Not really. Imagine what he could have done with good protection and being able to drop back more than 3 steps without getting blasted.
