No, but other certain people would have. The "beauty" of our system if one side don't getcha the other side certainly will. |

I'm tired of any and all goverment officials spending tax payers money as if it grows on trees. That's from the federal goverment to the local city employee. |
Re: To All The Liberals
Didnt AIG pay back all the money with interest?
Isnt GM doing an IPO to the tune of 13 mil in the next few days that is going to payback most of the "taxpayers" money? My 401k went from being cut in half during the Bush admin to now making over 20% returns. Hasnt the stock market rebounded quicker and stronger than anyone thought? Check our "predict how low the dow jones will go" thread for how you thought the SM was going to tank and compare that to what really happened? im not saying we are clear of economic troubles but the economy has come a long way in just 2 years. the dems did a poor job of spearheading these mid-term elections. instad of standing by the pres and the bailouts, they tried to distance themselves. that and the large dem voting block that is the 20 somethings dont come out and vote in numbers for the less sexy mid-term elections than they do when they get to vote on a president. now back to hatin ya'll! |

Ben Bernanke (who im usually in agreement with, and a overall fan of) said it best: "The U.S. government has a technology, called a printing press, that allows it to produce as many U.S. dollars as it wishes at essentially no cost."
Was this such a big deal when W locked down the same Sheraton hotel in Delhi for his 3 day visit in 2006 (less than 6 months after the Oct. 2005 blasts there)?
There is NO comparison in cost, timing or overall ridiculousness of the trip. If he wants to see the festival of lights, look on Youtube like the rest of us. The Obama's arrogant spending and lavish vacations/shopping sprees during this recession is only going to create more and more animosity against him. 2012 is a lost cause for him, and his party. For those who like to compare vacations of President Bush and Obama, keep him mind, most of President Bush's vacations were back to his own ranch at no cost (other than required security) and he almost always made them working vacations with foreign leaders coming to meet with him there. We pay for Camp David as a retreat for the President when he needs to get away from the WH. This President refuses to use it, but we're still paying for it, PLUS his excessive travel plans. |
Re: To All The Liberals
Yup, the guy goes on vacations. There is a reason to can him
|
Re: To All The Liberals
Well I can't speak to the cost. But there most definitely is a comparison to the timing and "overall ridiculousness" of the trip
I don't expect you to have any understanding or appreciation of "the festival lights" since it's not an American holiday Do you not think that Obama also meets with foreign leaders on his vacations? As Nancy Reagan once said "Presidents don't take vacations, they just have a change of scenery" And what do you mean he never goes to Camp David? He's been there about 8 times the last two years. Maybe it's not the 150 or so times Bush went, but it's not like he never goes |

Most local gov'ts waste a lot less money than you think. In general they are operating at a much higher efficiency than either the states or the federal gov't Remember when they come pick up your trash or you flush the toilet a local gov't is making that happen. I'd be happier if half of my taxes I pay the federal gov't went to my local gov't instead. At least there I can identify more easily what my money gets spent on. Of course I work for a local gov't so my perspective is skewed. But I know in our case there is not a lot of waste. The community around here gets a good level of service for their money. |

Aren't most of us during the daytime posts. FRPLG's statement is exactly why most governmental responsibilities should be done at the local level. True the military can't be, but most medicare and soc.sec. could and should be. anyway, blah blah blah it ain't changin anytime soon. |

Sure I am. The 10 minutes spent a day on here hardly costs us anything. I can assure you that if I wasn't on here I'd be doing something else to take a break. If the biggest issue any gov't has is making sure employees don't take breaks once in awhile then no one should be complaining about waste. Unfortunately employees needing breaks is a reality of any working environment. |
New Dehli TV reports the same thing.
In light of the security situation in the region, might have been smarter to have a smaller contingent (leave Michelle at home) or have the folks from Mumbai come here where we've got far more control. India is a critical ally, but $200M a day ain't chump change.
Is this information substantiated? I don't see anyone of note reporting on it and all is see is Daily Mail and et al quoting the ndtv who quotes Maharashtra government official. Where's the fact checking of these claims? How much per day do our wars in Iraq and Afghanistan cost? How much man power and resources do we have over there? Iraq war alone cost tax payers roughly 12 billion a month. Doing simple math one arrives at expenditure of ~400 million a day. The idea that the president and his crew is spending half what we spent to wage war in Iraq is absurd. Even worse is the fact that people believe it! Please, let's show some sanity restraint and not believe wild stories because we want to believe them. Even if 35 war ships are dispatched you have to recognize they are there to wage our wars and one can not attribute their total cost to the president's visit. p.s. Your economic prosperity depends on mine and vice versa. |
Re: To All The Liberals
What's funny is that the White House is denying the trip costs $200M/day, yet they won't give up the number for the actual daily price tag...
I know that all presidents travel, and it costs lots of cake to orchestrate these trips. It's just that this timing is so piss poor....
