despite his terrible hands, his zone coverage and tackling are fine. he's not a world beater and he's not trash... he's somewhere in between, but i don't think wilson is an upgrade from what i saw of him last year.
A lot of football people would disagree with you. Just saying.

I think Josh Wilson has a real chance to develop into an above average NFL corner (people who said he had a great year in 2010 are on the money), but Rogers was already there: where people who are in the know think Wilson can be.

Yeah. But would you break the bank for Rogers? He is looking for a big payday. So if you had to chose which would pick: Big pay day for Rogers or what we paid for Wilson?

I've just take exception to the vocal minority asserting he's already an upgrade on Rogers. Misses the point.

If Rogers caught at least half of the INTs he's dropped each year, he'd be considered one of the best, but sadly he can't catch a cold. I like the addition of Josh Wilson and we can let the market set a price on Rogers. Perhaps Rogers finds out that he has much less demand than he previously thought and wants to come back at a reasonable rate. That I would be fine with, but he's not good enough for #1 money.

As for Wilson, I like him and think he'll be fine. He won't be great though and he'll struggle with bigger receivers but he can also return punts which makes him valuable as well.

If Wilson picks up where he left off last year, is he an upgrade?

Gotcha. Point taken and I agree that Los was an above average corner. Could have been a regular pro-bowler corner had he held onto half the ball that hit him in the hands.
If Wilson picks up where he left off last year, is he an upgrade?
Uh, probably. Thing is, he would have needed to re-sign in Baltimore to do that.

I'm interested to grade him side by side against Hall, a known commodity at this point. Wilson does seem like a good fit for this scheme, whatever that is worth.
This guy is 340 lbs and one of the "less mobile" tackles in the league, no thanks. I'll take him as a NT though.
He was a starting tackle for a team that won the Super Bowl two seasons ago and he's only 29. Would he be an upgrade over an oft injured Jamaal Brown? Maybe or maybe not, but he'd certainly be great for depth. All I said is he's worth a look.

But the Steelers offensive line has been less than stellar for some time, their scheme and Big Ben's ability to make something out of nothing often hid the lines deficiencies. Starks isn't that good and wouldn't be an upgrade over Brown, if Brown is healthy which I believe he is. Now if Starks would agree to a cheap contract as a backup, that would be one thing, but not starting tackle money.

We do have to re-sign Brown first though.

I'm sure he is worth the look, but I was looking at it from a scheme perspective. I was under the impression that our scheme looks for lighter and agile offensive linemen. Plus I think there are better RTs out there.

Agreed. Starks fits the fat boy road grader model that Pittsburgh likes.
