Gotta pay a little more to pry away a guy that the Cowboys really wanted to keep.
I think not. You don't play those games. Now who's laughing?

Agreed. The more I read about him the better I like it.
No they did not over pay. He is young and on the upswing in his career. Jenkins has been hurt on and off in his career and still wanted a pay day.
why is everyone saying this? he's 27 and hasn't really done anything. good players hit their stride in year 2 or 3. don't like this one at all.

I hope you're right cause that's a lot of dough for a career back up.

I can't wait to see the joy when we start signing some O-lineman.
I like the Cofield move but not sure about a career back up.

I think so. I shoot bottle rockets. The Hooters are crying.

... I think people's brains are starting to short circuit. It's like the guy dying of starvation who is suddenly given all the food he can eat.

Read up on some of the articles about him. The Cowboys were really counting on keeping him and he was going to be taking on a bigger role this year.

Would we have been better off caving in to C. Jenkins' last minute demands for even more $$?

Re: Redskins sign DE Stephen Bowen

The Bowen signing is a bit of a catch 22 from my perspective. On one hand people say, well the Redskins reached a little and overpaid this guy because he hasn't done anything. But on the other hand had Bowen played more snaps in Dallas, his stats would have been more reflective of his perceived value. So now you have to up the ante because this guy is on everyone's radar.

All I'm saying is if he turns out to be who we think he is (channelling Denny Green), then this could have been a steal for what we paid. And if he doesn't, then hey we missed this one. But I'm willing to bet he'll live up to his contract more than he won't instead of turning out to be a bust. God willing.

I would have hate the seen the contract that Vinny would have thrown at him. The man bids against himself on players. Creates markets when there isn't any.

DAL was really counting on keeping him at a reasonable cost. Needless to say he was an UDRFA, he still hadn't started much or dominated to demand that type of money, compared to Cofield. Thier contracts are close if the reports are accurate, $12.5M SB with Cofield earning a higher base salary. Let's see how these guys play.

Honestly I wouldn't have picked either guy. C. Jenkins is injury prone and Bowen is just too un proven at 27. I would've let the rookie play and get the game experience, along with Cofield and had Carrkier and Goldston back them up at DE.

Bowens was an UDFA and, as such, took longer to develop. But reaching your prime is reaching your prime, whether that occurs in year 3 or year 6.

Very true. There's no set pattern in which players develop. Some burst onto the scene and tear it up from the beginning, others take awhile. I just hope it works out for us.
