He was good this year, but not his best season. It was the running, that got them the SB.[/quote]

No, but you'd be lying to yourself if you think the quarterback doesn't impact the run game. A good passing game keeps defenses honest and prevents them from stacking the box for fear of getting burned.

Sometimes it does, not as much as you might think. The redskins ran the ball like crazy in 1985 without very good QB play from Thiesman.

Mooby, we need John Elway to compete?

He had very good numbers that year [1996]....like I said, it wasn't his best year, though.

No, we don't. If the run game can be effective all Grossman needs to do is manage the game, and maybe chuck it deep once or twice. I'm just sayin, the 2011 Redskins offense is not the 1996 Broncos offense.

I believe the skins will beat the giants week one. What do you think?
Mort (11:09 AM)

Agree. I was thinking Giants could be a surprise team - they are physical, they will run and in WR can make plays but too many injuries. I see Redskins' running game being a major factor with Hightower.

Sort of meant, was he a running back? No, he was fleet footed even at 35, but he did not carry the load. That's my point. :smashfrea

As the reigning prediction champ (wilsowilso won the Super Bowl score prediction thread- one point from exact score for both teams)

I predict.

Skins 30
Giants 20

PS - I never won a single prediction thread before that so don't take my word for it.

Skins 17
Giants 14

Re: Redskins vs. Giants pre-game thread

Giants barely beast a hobbled Redskins team last year. I don't think it is a stretch to believe the skins will beat them. They will beat them in close game. Skins simply have too many weapons and they are playing a depleted team at home.

24-17 skins.

This Redskins defense is going to kick ass!!! Add that to the fact that we're going to run the ball down their throats......

Redskins - 27 Gnats - 10

Time to Rock and Roll!!! :woot:

With all of the rain we have had today , it reminded me of the " seat cushion " game in the playoffs vs Atlanta . maybe Sunday Orakpo can have a game against Eli much like Dexter Manley had against Simms , when he sacked him 4 times in one game ( maybe 3 sacks ? ) Skins 26 NYG 16 . NYJ 27 CTurds 13 .

That was the second Giants game of 1986. In the first game the Giant's offensive Tackle Brad Benson held Dexter without a sack. Brad Benson made the probowl - in part because of the way he handled Manley. The second game Dexter was mad and took it out on Simms! Yes, I think it was four sacks!

Benson held Manely without a sack in the play offs, though. Giants went on to win the SB.

New Skin #'s we'll see during the game and for the season to come

Chris Neild #95
Roy Helu #29
Brandyn Thompson #32
Tim Hightower #25
Markus White #55

Donte Stallworth and Terrence Austin have the #18 which could mean Stallworth could be gone soon.

Ryan Torain has Butler County CC KS as his school instead of Arizona State

If the field is wet, or Bootleg aspect will be tough, but the stretch run will flourish... Itll be up and down, but I see us winning.
