Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Nope. We don't have the team in place to make a run yet. I thought we were on the right path for a change to build a solid winner. Any good SB winning HOF QB in the last 20 years always had a star studded cast to help him win. Do you think we are a star studded team? We gave up the ghost for a guy with reat talent, but who doesn't have the best Wr corp or O line protecting him. If our WR corp was more reliable and the O line solid the deal would have been OK, but with the reality of the situation, this is a big ass gamble.
Yes, we have holes but a great QB makes a team better. Place some of the Patriots offensive playmakers on the Skins with Grossman at QB and see how great they do. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
It's not like we traded a 2nd for TJ Duckett all over again.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Ok even though the surprise is gone every single one of us will be watching the draft just to see RG3's name get called up for us. Remember this moment. The moment the Redskins were reborn haha
Let me ask this question - assuming that the redskins really had a slim chance for manning, did Shanahan really have another option this year at qb- without getting fired?
I think he could have tried to poach Alex Smith as a stopgap.
That would have been buying high, sure, and Smith isn't anyone's franchise quarterback, but it would have been a legit acquisition at the QB position that wouldn't have cost draft value and would have swung the leverage back to the Redskins. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Yoda? Really? I just said that when people said I was crazy for offering up (whats now nothing) a large amount of picks people said it wouldn't be that much I said it would to get it to that. That's all I was trying to say. I was gonna message you this but I can't message for some reason. Maybe you can tell me how.
So Lotus, who would you get for RG3 to throw to since we have no second rounder now?
So much for stopping acting like a child and letting it go. |

Snyder has done it again, got the fans snagged on the hot sexy pick, hoping it will pan out. I think BA and Shanny are feeling the heat so they went against the plan to save their asses. I like RG III a lot, but 3 first rounders for a still unproven commodity at the NFL level is not wise." I'm not a "RGII walks on water person", but I'll say this... vs Texas = #11 defense in the country in 2012 (they were VERY good): RGIII - 15-22, 320 yds, 2 TD, INT vs TCU = #34 in the country: 21-27, 359 yds, 5 TD, 0 INT Those aren't OK numbers... they are great... and he's playing with a Baylor offensive line (not Wisconsin's), and throwing to Baylor WRs (not Miami's or USCs). I just mean, he may flop, but I hate when people use the whole Big 12 argument... that's just me. |

Only time will tell, no one knows. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
Going all in isn't the style that BA and Shanny started off with in their first two drafts. Get more picks, draft smart, draft needs. RG III right now might be akin to Vick in ATL. He will be fun to watch, but with a less talented supporting cast. Face it you go all in and lose, you lose for awhile. What happened when we drafted Shuler, many thought he was a sure thing also way back then. The Shuler debacle killed this team for over a decade. We still haven't found a franchise QB!! I really hope I am eating crow this time in 2013, but if I am not Holy Shit, you might be looking at another 2-4 years of crappy win loss records.
People doubted Cam Newton. He did okay. Stop hatting hatter. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
What would you have rather had? I am excited for this team and its future and it has been a while. What keep hoping for next year since we always just miss out on that quarterback. We are basically giving up two additional first round picks and a second. I wouldn't prefer it but I like it more than hoping to get a quarterback next year. I am sick of waiting and now I know we got a playmaker and not rex grossman looking like an idiot. Quarterbacks make teams and now we finally have a team.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
In other news Vinny Cerrato says he would have done the same for Justin Blackmon. LOL.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
If we're comparing those draft classes.
Ryan Tannehill = Alex Smith Andrew Luck = Aaron Rodgers RGIII = ???? Here's hoping that he's better than Rodgers, but I think RGIII is better than Smith right now. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
In all honesty, I happen to prefer what the Redskins actually did to taking Tannehill at six.
But I have to be right about BOTH Griffin AND Tannehill. If not right about both, then I am wrong about preferring this trade. If Griffin isn't the clear no. 1 on the depth chart in 2014 for whatever reason and Tannehill is starting in this league, this will be the worst trade in modern NFL history, and what Shanahan will ultimately be remembered for, instead of the super bowls. So yeah, this is very much going all-in. Recklessly all-in.
Agreed. Just a bit too reckless for my taste right now. Like I said, Griffin had better be solid gold. Forget clear #1 by 2014; we'd better be talking Pro Bowl in 2014. |
Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
No need to watch the first hour of the draft lol. Time to get the RG3 jersey, as soon as find out what number he is.

Re: Redskins agree to trade for No.2 overall pick in 2012 Draft
I was just driving on my lunch break and almost crashed my pickup when they broke this on KNBR. WTF is Shannahan doing! I rather take Tannehill instead of paying that price.
