Why? Its still the same team, players, organization, and city. Nothing changes except a nickname, logo, and maybe colors.

Woah woah woah. Their is no reason to change colors or a logo and nobody is asking them to do so. Also - again - this is just a dog and pony show by Snyder and the league to make the few people who are upset about a dumb nickname think that their "problem" is as important as the real problems in the world.

Personally I think the Dan can put this whole thing to bed if he throws up a few casino's on Oneida turf and hires all the combatants.............

Goodell is meeting with the Oneida nation soon, so it makes sense for him to talk with Snyder first and get his take on things

DS and the NFL will make a ton of money from this name change and that will be the the reason for the change not because they think the name is a slur. These kinds of releases are put out to make it look like DS is fighting the good fight to keep the Redskins name. In the end $ will win the day.

It will cost several million to change the name, they won't just be making a ton of money by changing it.

How would changing your brand that is already well marketed and established world wide for decades going to make you a ton of money?

There will be a minimal cost to change the name (mostly signage around the stadium and some logos, etc on the website but that will be more than offset by the millions of dollars worth of shirts, hats, and other swag that will be sold to the fans who will have to have the newest gear.

irish I think you're really oversimplifying things here. And you're underestimating what it means to change the identity of an organization.
