Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
Mike Shanahan has really struggled here and it's time for a change. But I'm not going to ignore all that he's accomplished in his career, or make up stuff because I think he shouldn't be the HC of this team anymore

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
I can't wait to see what leaked lines come out of the locker room this week. The press is going to have a field day.

Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
Some no name coach that can instill a sense of pride in the team.

This. He won a division title, he changed the culture. Thank you, now move along. |
I think what's so sad is to see really talented players deteriorate under Shanahan. It was his theme in Oakland, much of his time in Denver, and Washington worst of all.
One of the things that's changed in the nfl for the worse is how safe bad coaches are. The players in Oakland kicked Mike out because he was so bad. Unfortunately that's almost impossible today.
Who will you hate when Shanahan is gone. Damn. Did the man personally kick you in the nuts for a year? |
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
TBH I think if I were a NFL head coach candidate, I would pass on this job. No coach has done well under this owner, the roster has HUGE holes in it, and we are short on upcoming draft picks. I don't think anyone could right this ship, before the fans or ownership turned on him.

I'd say yeah. He's wasted all of our time and will have set us back years. |
Re: Choose Your 2014 Redskins Head Coach
Is the changing of the culture something we have evidence of, or is it the kind of thing that happened, but we'll never actually see it because our feet aren't close to the dirt?

Correction, we are short on upcoming draft PICK. Can we stop acting like we traded 3 entire drafts? Granted a first rounder is a big deal but it's one pick in the upcoming draft. Geez, how hard is that? |

Not feeling the change of culture thing....we were a lousy team with no heart when he got here and were a lousy team with no heart now. |

Exactly. Overall, Mike Shanahan is a heck of a coach and he has accomplished a lot in his career. Anybody who says otherwise is just being silly. I say to those guys, hate him as a Redskins head coach if you must, but saying he hasn't accomplished much as a coach in the NFL is pretty foolish. At this point now, even I say it's time to move on from Mike Shanahan. Doesn't change my respect for him, but it's clearly time for him to move on from Washington. |

He doesn't have my vote for HOF. There are plenty of coaches who have won Super Bowls and while its impressive he did back to back, making a few adjustments to a loaded team doesn't make him a genius. He's been fighting to repeat success and has failed miserably. The shanahan legacy is a joke to me |

I don't spend as much time at Redskins Park as I once did, but I do drop in from time to time. And those who spend a lot of time will also tell you it's not like the "lazy, get your paycheck and go home" Spurrier era, nor the "watch your back, don't trust the person next to you" Cerrato/Zorn era. There are some football related disagreements but most everyone will tell you the culture in the locker room and across the organization is quite strong, not Joe Gibbs strong, but strong nonetheless...which is what makes this all so puzzling |

I believe that for sure. You can tell imo the culture is a better place than it was before. The only thing is Shanny seems to rub some players the wrong way. Like Morgan and Fred Davis. He loved Fred Davis last year, but this year FD is skipping meetings, sleeping in meeting, etc. Someone wasnt pro active or this wasnt handled correctly. Or why was he even brought back when we needed money... |
