We ending getting the #1 WR on the board in the second round, which most all predicted would go in the first round. I'm very pleased with the first pick.
@ The Goat: I haven't seen anyone go since we traded that pick that I think was an impact player at a position of need for us...
Possibly Balmer and Merling, two positions we definitely need. OT Brown possibly two but I like Chilo better as an oline pick.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not poo-pooing the move.

Height: 6-17/8 | Weight: 216 | 40-Time: 4.40

Strengths:
Very good size with long arms and excellent bulk...Smooth natural athlete...Great timed speed...Extremely elusive and runs well after the catch...Terrific vision...Has reliable hands and he'll pluck the ball...Great leaping ability and ball skills...Tough, strong and physical...Is also an outstanding return man...Still has a ton of upside.

Weaknesses:
Only had one big season at the college level...Not a great route runner...Does not necessarily play to his timed speed and lacks a burst...Hasn't been a true vertical threat to this point...Average blocker....Raw and could take some time to develop.

Notes:
JUCO transfer from Coffeyville Community College...Made little or no impact in his first year with the Spartans but then exploded once Mark Dantonio replaced John L. Smith and implemented a new offense...A One Year Wonder who would appear to have all the physical tools you look for...May have more long-term upside than any wideout in this draft, but whoever drafts him will probably have to be patient.
Wow, Devin Thomas in the second round. Great size and speed, excellent pick. He will definitely help out the redskins immediately.

Trade down? Are you kidding me? The draft is about quality not quantity. We were stupid for giving up #21. WE get two mid second round picks in a lame draft year? Unless we go for a WR, we are not going to get quality people this draft. Although we might be able to still land a decent LB, CB, or S that will make a positive impact on us. Anyone picked up after round 3-4 will just be a waste of space or practice squad fodder for a season or two then released. At #21 we still could have landed a decent D linemen or guaranteed getting the best WR or S in the draft. I know it is a relatively thin year for talent, but you still have to go for top quality. More picks with the pickings are slim doesn't help you.
This is such a stupid post it is not even worth responding to with the actual counterpoints. They are too obvious to even require statement. Oh, and the Redskins did get the best WR in the draft at #34.

I argee with SC Skins Fan. I thought they would get Devin Thomas with the 21st pick so to trade down get him cheaper plus more picks also was a win for us.

I think most people believe that although the draft doesn't have "star power", it is good for solid players in the 2nd & 3rd. We just picked up the top rated WR and got an extra 2nd round pick. We have many needs and need depth at several positions. The FO played this very well.

I think we may go CB at #48, and DE (Campbell?) at 51

In case you missed it no WRs even went in the first round and we still came away with one of the top ones on the board. And there's still plenty of quality DEs out there. So what are you griping about??

Ditto. Devin Thomas is a true #1/2 WR. He will be able to seperate from NFL CBs and he seemingly has the attitude to make it in this business.

CB would be good at # 48. I got off the Campbell bandwagon after the combine, so I'm hoping Laws (I'm a ND fan), Harrison or Sims. Daniels and Wilson will have to hold down the fort for another year

a lot of corners have already been picked... Id be happy with getting campbell so late, i would have been happy with him at 21. looks like were getting great value and savings lots of cap money.

i bet san fran goes after jasckson...i thougth he originally may go to san fran anyways before the draft started

did the guy from arkansas state get picked? he was rated above philips by some.

i heard teh guy from notre dame is one of those guys that plays football well but has bad intangibles, but is 'a football player' and late round pick. a guy that makes your stars look better but istn one himself

I hope not. Groves is just a situational pass rusher, something we already have in Chris Wilson. Unless we're planning on having him take over for Marcus Washington, but I doubt it.

I've heard a lot of good things about Groves from people who actually break down tape, as opposed to those internet guys who just echo what the last guy said.

as for OL, Goat, we can quality linemen in the late 3rd/early 4th in my opinion.

I don't think we need an OL starter out of this draft, just some quality depth to develop for the future.
