ehhhh, i think that was the majority opinion last year with jackson and merriweather........jus sayin. I believe most of our starters will stay the same, just a year older. We have not signed ANYONE that is a definite upgrade, or even a definite starter over what we already had.
Again, jus sayin.
Did you keep a straight face as you typed that? Merriwether proved to be better by a large margin in only 1 half of playing football. Jackson is better than either Madieu Williams or Reed Doughty playing with a blunt in one hand. Thats the problem, the NFL doesnt allow that. Seeing as our "starters" at safety played all of around 30 minutes the entire season. Either one of the new safeties are better than Madieu Williams, who is no longer with the team. They dont really need to be all that good to be better than Doughty. Doughty knows where to be, he just needs a taxi to get there in time. Now, if you have insider information as to whether Tanard, Fred, and Trent had a party for the rookies, and they are all going to be suspended, then thats a whole different ballgame. |

Looks like barring a freak accident, London Fletcher will start the season with the distinction as having the longest consecutive games-played streak for active players.

R-r-r-richmond R-r-r-redskins r-r-r-rolls off the tongue. Seriously, as far as I know, the D.C. Council does not have the authority to demand that the Redskins organization disassociate itself from D.C. by removing the word "Washington" from the team's name. Dan Snyder is adamant that he will "NEVER" change the name of the team and I'm betting that he means the "Washington" part, as well. |

The Skins don't play in DC anymore, makes sense to change the name to Maryland or Virginia, so as not to degrade themselves and the fans by association with idiots like the DC council. |

What do you think? |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
I doubt this happens. Plus, our WR corp is pretty full already.
|
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
Well, if he is cut, I think he would be an excellent addition on the cheap. He excelled under Shanny and, with Moss getting long in the tooth, would be someone who could step into the slot receiver position. I think he certainly has the ability to challenge Briscoe or Robinson for the 5th/6th WR slot. As with everything this year, much is dependent on the how he would affect the cap numbers.
|
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
Im pretty sure Royal will be a Redskin within the hour of being cut from the Chargers. If this was to happen
|
Can't hurt to bring him in on the cheap for a look.

Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
Keep the team chemistry together.
i'd take him over briscoe for sure.
Briscoe hardly was active. Why do so many fans not realize that it's but so many balls to throw around? It's not realistic to line up 4+ WRs every down when this team runs so well and had very talented TEs and a FB. Royal is simply not needed. Nor is Briscoe. I imagine he's frustrated for that very same reason. I can understand concern for Moss getting up there in age but, he's very solid and consistent. There will be an opportunity in the future to find his successor. There's simply no need to stockpile WRs that won't see playing time. |

Well you need at least 5 active, usually 6 on the roster. You kinda have to think about the future as well with the cheap acquisition of a player like Royal. Moss is gone at the end of the season, Royal could slide into his most effective position at the slot. Also kick return experience, another weakness of ours. Back up slot receiver is a need and getting Royal on the cheap would be a win imo. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
Sure, bring him in ! Why not?

and the downside of bringing him in is what exactly? let's say a WR gets hurt like garcon did last year. wouldn't royal be a better injury replacement than briscoe? i sure think so. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
Briscoe was absolutely terrible last year. He had the drops all season. One of the UDFAs is an upgrade over that guy.
I am still shocked he even has a roster spot. |
Re: Official Redskins Off-Season News & Rumors-Part Trois
New advance scout-Larry Coyer. The same guy who was Shanny's DC in Denver
and the downside of bringing him in is what exactly?
let's say a WR gets hurt like garcon did last year. wouldn't royal be a better injury replacement than briscoe? i sure think so.
The downside is the possibility of screwing with team chemistry. Bringing in Royal at this point of the season is a Vinny Cerrato move minus the bonehead contract. And to answer your question, if Garçon goes down, (and he did last year) Briscoe still didn't 'play' other than serve as a decoy. You guys are liking Royal to a stud fantasy player but, the truth is he's no better than Moss, Garçon, or Morgan given the same opportunities. |
