Several years ago and several injuries ago. If they offered the above pick, I'd take it no questions asked. |

There is zero chance the Patriots trade for Reed and his contract. They have 6 picks in the first 3 rounds and it is a deep draft for TEs. |

Yup, but the fact he struggles blocking is probably the bigger reason...they don’t put up with that shit up there. Like we saw once again with their Sb march, they understand the premise of winning football is running the balll. |

This trade Reed shit is getting tired...
For a team with not much in the weapons dept why would the Skins trade away their best receiving option?? |

When our best receiving option is an oft injured TE, then that says a lot about your entire passing game. Plus we don't even have a starting QB The TE position needs a total rebuild. |

Its highly unlikely, sometimes teams get desperate...like they done in the past. |

Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread

Three reasons off the top of my head: 1. Desperation. 2. It is human nature to hope that things and people will turn it around. 3. If we could all just broaden our view of NFL front offices beyond our own, we would see that there are plenty of times when other FO's make moves just as stupid as most of the ones our FO makes. |

I love Reed and his game...I think he would benefit in a system where he is a second TE and more offline than inline. I thought going into last season would be make or break...him and Alex didn't work well and later was injured. So ready to break |

So ready to break
I had enough of him on the pass in the end zone that was intercepted when Reed was too busy giving Alex a look instead of immediately going after the guy that picked off the pass. Of course I bet Gruden didn't even get after him for that crap. Reed is either in street clothes or playing too hurt to be a factor half the time and he can't block. Total waste of money, he needs to be cut. |

Reed's lack of "brilliance" with Redskins has more to do with Reed than our shitty organization. Reed is made of glass and breaks very easily. Reed has a LONG history of injuries, see below. I found this on line. It include SIX reported concussions that caused him to lose games. A change of scenery is not going to make him less injury prone. Age makes it worse. Jordan Reed Injury History Dec 9, 2018 NFL Pedal Toe Sprain Reed strained a muscle in his right big toe in the 1st quarter against the Giants and missed the final 3 games. Feb 15, 2018 NFL Pedal Toe Fracture Reed underwent toe surgery during the 2018 offseason, presumably on the fracture toe that hampered him during 2017 training camp. Oct 29, 2017 NFL Thigh Hamstring Tear Grade 3 Reed injured his left hamstring and it sidelined him for several games. He was eventually put on the IR ending his season. Sep 17, 2017 NFL Chest Pectoral Bruise Reed suffered a chest contusion and missed a game because of it. He returned to limited practice and then full game action. Jul 26, 2017 NFL Pedal Toe Fracture Reed said a toe injury had bothered him since the 2016 season but "flared up" after a stem-cell treatment following OTAs. It was eventually deemed a fracture and led to other compensatory foot issues. Nov 24, 2016 NFL Shoulder A/C Joint Separation Reed sustained a Grade 3 separation of the A/C joint in his left shoulder. He finished the game but missed the following week plus Week 16 (after returning for 2 games in between). Oct 9, 2016 NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 1 Reed suffered a concussion in Week 5 and missed the following 2 games. He initially tried to hide his symptoms but entered the protocol during the week following the injury game. Nov 22, 2015 NFL Knee MCL Sprain Grade 2 Reed sustained a left MCL sprain but continued to play through the injury. Oct 4, 2015 NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 1 After taking a big hit in his Week 4 matchup, Reed suffered a concussion along with a couple other injuries (MCL and ankle sprain). He was forced to miss the next 2 weeks of action. Sep 17, 2015 NFL Leg Quad Strain Reed "tweaked" a quad in Thursday's practice but was ready for Sunday's game. Aug 11, 2015 NFL Thigh Hamstring Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Reed strained a hamstring 2 days before the 1st preseason game. He sat out that contest and 1 more before returning in preseason Week 3. May 28, 2015 NFL Knee Strain Grade 1 Reed had a surgical "procedure" in May for his knee after straining his knee during the offseason. Nov 16, 2014 NFL Thigh Hamstring Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Reed strained his right hamstring in Week 11 and missed the following game. Sep 7, 2014 NFL Thigh Hamstring Strain Grade 2 During the 1st quarter against the Texans, Reed pulled his left hamstring and was sidelined for the next 4 games. Aug 23, 2014 NFL Hand Thumb Sprain Reed suffered a sprained thumb in the preseason game against the Ravens but missed no game time because of it. Nov 17, 2013 NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 3 Reed suffered a concussion in Week 11. He neared a return several times but experienced recurring symptoms. Reed ultimately landed on IR. Sep 22, 2013 NFL Leg Thigh Bruise Reed suffered a quad contusion and was sidelined for the following week. Sep 22, 2012 Non-NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 1 Reed suffered a concussion but didn't miss any time, perhaps thanks to a bye week in between. Nov 19, 2011 Non-NFL Pedal Ankle Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Reed missed the final 2 games of the 2011 college season with an unspecified ankle injury. Oct 15, 2011 Non-NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 1 Reed suffered a concussion at some point during the 2011 college season. He didn't appear to lose any games to it, missing time that season with ankle and hamstring injuries. Sep 10, 2011 Non-NFL Thigh Hamstring Sprain/Pull Unspecified Grade 1 Reed missed two games at UF because of a hamstring injury. Nov 27, 2010 Non-NFL Head Cranial Concussion Grade 1 Reed suffered a concussion in Florida's final regular-season game. He returned for the bowl game a little more than a month later. |

You are right, you all's conversation did say "someone", not necessarily Patriots. I just saw the trade Reed conversation spin off the talk of Gronk's retirement and that they might 'need' a TE. I still think everyone in the NFL has a copy Reed's long injury list and are fully aware of his concussion issues. I am not sure if the Redskins released him today, Reed might be out of football? With all of the documented CTE concerns, Reed might be better off retiring like Gronk. But Reed may not be ready financially or is in denial. I will reiterate he is not worth the close to $10million dollar cap hit in the next three years on his current contract. It is not his talent it his health. It is time to cut him. |

This is very true.....Richardson can ball but his injury last year was a disappointment.....although he's only heading into the second year of his contract, signing him last offseason could turn out to be a bust decision...not being able to retain Crowder does in fact make you think about Richardson and question whether or not if signing him was a bad decision and also if his contract ate up what Crowder might have received from the Redskins..... |

I honestly didn't remember that Richardson was on the team. Man, what a crap season 2018 was. Sheesh.

Daily reminder that we still have 4.6M available (12.5 - 7.9 rookie pool), so cutting VD and/or extending Scherff's effin contract would give us more than enough to sign a decent G and/or a decent edge rusher, in case we don't fill all of our needs with A+ players in the draft...

Yea if colt is anything other than 3rd string we have not addressed the QB issue at all .. realistic Smith is done, We need starter and backup.. Rosen starts, Case and McCoy that’s best case scenario.

I guess if there's no rush for the cap room it's not a big deal, everyone is likely focused on the draft right now. I'll just breathe a lot easier when it's done. |

Same here. As many gaffes this team has done, they do go all out for players they like and are important, like Trent and Ryan K. However, I will too breathe a little easier when they get this done. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread
Regarding Scherrf, do we really think extending him is in the long-term best interests of the franchise?
Don't get me wrong, Scherrf is one of the few "blue chip" players we have on the team. He is an elite talent. But that's kind of the problem. He will rightfully expect a contract which makes him the highest paid guard in the league. I read somewhere that we already have one of the highest paid offensive lines in the league. With all the needs the team has, can we really afford to devote even more money to the position group? I understand it would free up some cap space in 2019. But after that, we'd be committing a significant portion of our cap to Williams, Moses, and Scherrf. Unless Scherrf is willing to give us a hometown discount, I think we might be better suited to transition tag him next year and see if we can get something of value for him from another team. If a market doesn't develop, then pull the tag to enable us to get a compensatory pick in 2021. Alternatively, I would be all for extending him if we think we'd be trading Williams/Moses at some point in the next year or two. Ultimately, I just don't think its prudent to pay big money to 3 guys on the O-line. |
Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread
Scherff is one of the top players in the league at his position, you keep him. No need to overthink it. We don't have enough elite players as it is.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agency Thread
I wouldn’t mind signing Jordy Nelson to a one year deal if the money was right. We have to rebuild the receiving corp something awful and Jordy would be a possibly cheap non glass receiver option so we’re not 100 run game dependant

Jordy looked good down the stretch last year. We could do a lot worse. Like sticking with what we've got.
