Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
we saw what both could do last season, and Ramsey did more with what he had. that much is PROVEN. Brunell may or may not be "healthier" than last season, but i know one thing, he's 36. he certainly won't be our starter next year, and we shouldn't be betting on a temporary solution.
Why not??? Trent Dilfer was a temporary solution. |

so much for bringing stability back to the franchise... |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
So you don't think Gibbs knows what he is doing? I find that hard to believe.
NO, no....I do believe that Gibbs knows what he's doing. Awww.....I'm confused as hell now :) |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
so much for bringing stability back to the franchise...
I'll take stability in the form of Peyton Manning, Michael Vick, or Donovan McNabb. But I don't want stability in the form of Patick Ramsey. Do you really think he's the long-term solution? Besides, this is a contrived statement. The stability we need so desperately is stability within the coaching ranks. Personell changes from year to year in the NFL, that is one of the only certainties. You need stability in the coaching staff first and foremost. Stability at QB would be great, but neither Ramsey nor Brunell are the answer in that department. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
HOF Coach Gibbs went through this with Theisman & Schroeder, Theisman was 5-5 and was doing poorly, then the injury. Rypien & Williams, Rypien was fumble prone, so he inserted Williams. Ryp came back to lead us to the SB the next year. So none of this new.
:dallas: :dallas:
Okay, fine. But Gibbs has essentially brought in two QBs to compete with Ramsey. One via FA and the following year through the draft. With one being the definite heir appearant. So even those situations are quite different than the one we have here. |

Brunell proved he wasn't, even if he DOES play magically better than last year. yes, personnel changes are part of the NFL, but putting everything behind one guy, building a team around a "leader", than pulling the rug out from everybody including the team after 20 minutes into the season i think could be classified as 'instability'. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Bring on Jason Campbell. Brunell will never lead us to the playoffs. Ramsey is not going to want to be here or ever feel secure in this town. Why waste time, let's get the rook some experience...
I'm thinking the same thing. We all know his contract is loaded with incentives next year, but who knows this could be his year. We don't know until he gets in there. One thing you can admit he's more comfortable than Brunell and Ramsey in the pocket and is strong as hell when it comes to avoiding the sacks. |

I don't think this is instability, we are arguing over the relative merits of Ramsey and Brunell who are not to be confused with Culpepper and Manning. At the end of the day I think it was the turnovers that doomed Ramsey, Brunell didn't set the world afire with his performance but he made the smart plays that allowed us to win, something that Ramsey has yet to get. I don't particularly care for the move, but I'll wait to see Brunell against the Cowboys before I criticize the move. |

i was with you until this. when did Brunell allow us to win? all his smart play did was allow us to not lose *bad*. Ramsey actually *won* games and sparked our offense with the same bad receivers, line etc. |

Wrong. In every one of our wins last year Portis went over 100 yards. |

think the passing game (or actual threat of one) had anything to do with that? |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
I think one of the reasons a lot of us are so upset about this whole Ramsey situation is that he's been the only QB that we've had with promise the last few years.
We've all wanted him to succeed. Hell, I feel like a lot of us feel that he's been a part of the figurative "family" and deserves to win just like we as fans deserve it. I think what upsets us the most is the fact that this very well may be the last we've seen of Ramsey and the uncertainty of the QB position in the future is so up-in-the-air. We don't know how Campbell will be and we know that Brunell isn't getting any younger. I think it's tough for us to swallow the pill that Ramsey isn't going to be the QB we all wanted him to be, even through the Spurrier years. Ramsey, I wish you well (except against us) and I believe that you did get the Joan Collins special this year. I hope he goes somewhere else, prospers and loses to us in the Super Bowl or NFC Championship game. I normally don't buy into what the media says, but I think the only thing that can fix these damaged goods is a clean slate with a new team. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
think the passing game (or threat of one) had anything to do with that?
Nope. Our passing game was horrid last year even WITH Ramsey. It took him some time to get into a groove. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded

If others can continuously remind us of Gibbs' glory years in the 80's, then I guess it's also appropriate that we can remind everyone of the start of Gibbs II last year. |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Nope. Our passing game was horrid last year even WITH Ramsey. It took him some time to get into a groove.
maybe. but it was better than Brunell, who never "got in the groove" enough in 9 games. |

Ok, whatever you say Lady T. You're absolutely right. We suck, we're done, Gibbs sucks. Don't jump on the bandwagon once we start winning games. Thats all I'm saying. |

I don't remember, but how high was Humphries drafted is my question? |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
heh, i was thinking the exact same thing LadyT. so everyone's on the same Brunell Bandwagon they couldn't wait to jump off last december. Ramsey's not the one on the "short leash"

I don't think we suck and I never said that we did. That was you putting words in my mouth. I do think we're in for a VERY tough and probably disappointing year with MB at the helm. I fear it will be a repeat of last year, but I pray that it won't. I would love for Gibbs and MB to be successful. I have no personal vendetta against either of them, nor do I have a personal stake in whether or not Ramsey plays. First and foremost, I am a Skins fan and I want us to win. I just don't think we'll have a winning season with MB; I do think there is a chance of having one with Ramsey. Simple as that. |

Absolutely, it's all relevant. The 80s, 90's and even the present. But what makes this such a great debate, possibly the longest running thread in NFL fan history, is that we have such a great history to talk about in the first place. And to me, it will make all the losing all the more redeeming when we finally get back to the Super Bowl! Hell, you think we got it bad here, think of the Red Sox fans......86 yrs and zilch! Now that's what I call steadfast! |

Extreme emotions are reserved for extreme sites, like EXTREMESKINS... ;) J/K I just want to lighten things up today. There's a WHOLE lot of in-fighting. |

Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
It's only week 2. and I allready feel like I did half way through last season. Sick! :Flush:
If M.B can pull a freelking white rabbit out of his ass then great.(Brunell only passed for 70 yards and NO T.D's!! In 3 QTRs!!!Sound like last year?) :banghead: I really think Ramsey should have played a few more weeks. If we can some how beat the Cowboys. I might start to sing a diffrent tune. But that looks like a pretty BIG IF! Bring out Mr. Beam! :party-smi :dallas: |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
Everyone is pointing out the amount of yards Brunell passed for. He didn't have THAT many attempts.
Seriously, I have a good feeling against the Cowboys on Monday. We CAN run on their D, we can STOP their offense and if mistake-free offensive football is played, I predict a 24-10 win. |

If Brunell pulls the same bs as last season, I wouldnt be shocked at all to see our defense to start playing like crap cause they know the offense isnt going to give them any points. |

I don't know, it actually would suprise me to see the defense cave in. Seems like this defense is truly an entirely different entity from the rest of the team. Gregg Williams has them on an entirely different page. I mean, they came right out and said we want to score more points this year and get more turnovers. This is a very prideful unit. I think basically, they really aren't expecting much from the offense to begin with. They feel if the team will be carried it will be them who will do it. |

They were just so lathargic, and gave up 17 quick points. As soon as Ramsey came in they didnt let in another point. Its probaboly unrelated, but I like to think that way. :laughing- |
Re: Ramsey wants to be traded
this decision stripped the offense of any optimism from the last game or faith in the guy they practiced with all off-season. they'll be just as nervous and unsure as ever, and going into such an important game to boot.
Brunell's second half preseason success cannot justify the timing of this decision. it has to be a trick for Dallas, please let it be a trick. |
