Re: Rex reporting for duty!

If the potential starting QB doesn't at least think they can win then I would want my money back...
Anyone else here remember when Antrel Rolle guaranteed the Giants would beat the Packers last year...and they lost by almost 30 points
Anyone else remember when the Giants defenders started talking smack about Vick after the beatdown he gave us on Monday night last year? Before they went out and lost to the Eagles 27-17.

I think Grossman should point to the left field bleachers when he gets up to bat.

Re: Rex reporting for duty!

It's not out of the realm of reason to think that one of these QB's plays above expectations this year, but for us to be a strong team one of these guys needs to play way way above expectations.

Would love to see it.

Obviously our oline play will be much improved and most everyone now has a year in this system so a breakthrough is possible, but what is the absolute max out breakthrough for Grossman or Beck?

Re: Rex reporting for duty!

For the record, pretty much every reporter who has been at Redskins training camp and several fans have said that Rex is no fatter/bigger than he was last season. Rex has never been a workout warrior. The "HE'S FAT" comments are ridiculous.

I agree, MattyK. I think media and even fans are desperate for drama. In the last two days, the biggest stories coming out of camp have been that Kyle liked Beck coming out of college in 2007 (SHOCKER!) and this thing with Rex. They're digging for stories here and ignoring most of the other news coming out of camp.
Isn't it funny though? I mean the Shanahan's are actually going about the QB situation the right way. Rather then break the bank with a new player or a sexy name they have two guys, (both highly regarded prospects at one time or another) who have sat and learned the system for at least one year.

Yet people are acting like this isn't John Skelton vs Max Hall in 2010. Don't get me wrong I'm as nervous as the QB situation as anyone else but the way they've gone about selecting and coaching their players up, at least on paper, is the right way to do it.

Not to mention the fact that the cap wasn't put at risk with the contracts of Beck and Grossman, nor did the Skins give up draft picks to acquire the players.
+1 ( or however many points I can add)

This isn't Skelton vs. Hall, not in my mind at least

Yeah, Skins fans may see his off-cuff comment in context and not that serious. But I just saw my SportsCenter facebook status update with Rexy's proclamation with over 3400 comments laughing at it.

It doesn't matter what the media does with it... the rest of the NFC East is going to remember the quote, regardless of context. Hasn't Twitter taught us anything? Point being, choose your words wisely if they'll be heard/read. The wind tends to deviate meaning.

Yes, I'm sure the Giants, Eagles and Cowboys are all riled up because of the comments of Rex Grossman.

I very much doubt anyone cares. They all regard us as the doormats anyway, so it seems unlikely to me their using Rex's comments as bulletin board material. It's not as though he said "we're going to kick their asses!". He said he felt like they could win the NFC East. Ask all three starting quarterbacks in the division and they'll say the same thing.

It really isn't that big a deal.

Tomorrow nobody will care. People will be eating up the next story of the minute.

Re: Rex reporting for duty!

Whoever gets upset at this or ridicules it is a F'ING moron (and should really watch the interview). This wasn't Namath guaranteeing a SB win or like any of the other predictions we've seen athletes make in the past. This is just a QB trying to say the right things, while being positive about a young team with a long way to go. Hell, everyone was giving the Cowpukes the Super Bowl last year before they stunk it up during the season. Once again, this is hyped by a media that is accustomed to report the all sorts of crazy stories that this team has had in the past offseasons.

I must have missed something. What did Rex say?
