I just caught "Sin Nombre"- one of the best I've seen this year. First time director/writer from California who went down to Honduras and Mexico to capture a really good story. Incredible shots from the top of trains... the movie includes a crazy gang called Mara Salvatrucha (a real gang in LA and parts of South America).
Dude I have been meaning to PM you but I figure I would share here.

You must all see Let the Right One In...Awesome movie, what Twlight should have been!
Ummm, having Paul Walker on the big screen was a delight? That guy couldn't act his way out of a paper bag. I mean, I'm sure it was a better film than "Tokyo Drift" (for some reason I watched that whole movie on Cinemax a while back), but still. If you hit me in the head with a baseball bat, I'll spend the next 5 minutes or so doing my best Paul Walker impression.

Star Trek, GI Joe, Terminator Redemption, and Transformers 2 are all high on my list for upcoming films.
I was talking more in terms of the entire cast. But since you want to talk about Paul Walker, he is much improved over the last 2 films (he had nowhere to go but up).

Those are on my list as well.

Let the Right One In was the best horror of last year... it was a shame it didn't get a lot of recognition... And did you really see Twilight!? I'll give you a pass on that one hahaha.

This one is suppose to be the next installment into French hardcore horror:

Saw "Observe & Report" last night.

Sucked. Sucked hard.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

I liked Wolverine. It wasn't too over the top that a lot of action movies fall prey too. It was none stop too. From the moment he ran away from home it was all action. The plot was simple to follow if you followed the comics or the previous X-Men movies, not so much if you hadn't.

TCM is offering a rare screening of the Peter Sellers classic "I'm Allright Jack" tonight at 10 PM EDT.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

I just got back from seeing Knowing. It was better than advertised. The critics need to get a real job because this movie was good. I thought it would stink but went because everyone else wanted to. Boy was I wrong. Finally an end of the world movie with a good ending, what a breath of fresh air. I will not ruin it for everyone but if you're a Coast to Coast AM guy like myself, you'll really dig this movie.

Really? I thought it was hilarious... super dark comedy. I like Jody Hill's humor (he's the guy behind Foot Fist Way and Eastbound and Down).

There were some funny parts, but after awhile I felt that the filmmakers were trying too hard to shock the audience. I guess I just got bored with it.

Please, don't anyone ever watch the movie College. There is nothing enjoyable about it. They even filmed it at my old school and I know someone who was in it, but it's totally unwatchable. I even like watching bad movies to laugh at them. (I watched Prom Night the night before and it was far more enjoyable...and it was horrible!) College misses on everything single thing they try to do. Please, no one waste your time.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

I know it has been mentioned already but I just saw The Wrestler last night. Pretty good stuff. I was a big wrestling fan when I was a kid (ok, I admit I still watch on occasion when there is nothing else on) and remember the fall of Jake the Snake Roberts. This movie was very close to his life, right down to his relationship with his daughter. If you have not seen it yet, It is worth it.

If your into Coast to Coast AM then you'll like it. It is different and not overdone IMO. You might like it. It had a very good ending.

Seriously, Sorry if I spoiled it. Its not a big secret anyway. You kind of expect it throughout the whole movie.

Hulk Hogan seems to think the movie is loosely based on him, per an article in the latest Rolling Stone.

$45.00 puts us down on the floor. pretty close to the ring. and as far as Hogan, he is probably trying to figure out a way top get some money out of it

I'm looking forward to seeing it even though someone else spoiled it for me like right when it came out. I'll end up ordering it OnDemand one of these days.

EDIT - I started every sentence with "I;" my high school English teachers would be so upset.

Yeah, the worst part is perhaps at the end of the article where he is at a red light showing off by slamming on the gas in his suped up truck, seemingly oblivious to what happened with his son.

I saw that movie, it was pretty good.

Watch The Wrestler last weeknd it was excellant! Need to see Star Trek. Watch Quarintine this weekend, OMG that movie sucked.

this week I hope to see Ben Buttons and Taken.

Star Trek had a strong opening weekend. I'd like to see it soon. I need to see Wolverine too.

I saw Star Trek, and thought it was extremely well done. A few minor quirks here and there, but the overall effect was great. I would love to be able to see it on an IMAX screen, some of the effects would be breathtaking.

I almost rented that over the weekend but settled on The Wrestler and Benjamin Button.

Also, saw Star Trek and like it much better than Wolverine. Pretty entertaining all the way through.

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Star Trek was great. Not the Star Trek of the 60's-90's. Much more like a modern action film.

CRedskinsRule 05-11-2009 10:24 AM

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

One thing in Star Trek: I have always been a fan of the space battles. And I don't think I have EVER seen the phasers and torpedos choreographed and used better. When called for the use was dramatic, and riveting.

GMScud 05-15-2009 11:57 PM

Re: Merged: The Movies Thread

Saw Star Trek last night. I also thought it was great. I'm familiar with the old school Trek, which made some of the inside humor in the movie really funny. My girlfriend however has no clue about the old school Trek, and she still thought it was really entertaining. Definitely a must see. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I haven't seen Wolverine yet, but based on the reviews, I'll be waiting until DVD. I can't wait for Transformers 2! June 24th!
