Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I don't know if anyone posted this:
@AlbertBreer 49ers ass’t GM Adam Peters was requested to interview for the Commanders head of football ops job, and will take the interview this week, per source. Significant in that he’s one of the most sought-after GM names and turned down interviews with the Titans and Cardinals last year. or this: @john_keim As @AlbertBreer noted Dallas DC Dan Quinn will take the interview with Washington, source confirms. Not sure when yet. Washington looking at a wide range of coaches; more defensive coaches than offensive ones so far on the list. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
No matter who get's hired, we certainly can't say the new ownership group didn't do their due diligence. I'm feeling very confident we get the right people hired (highered).

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Just a thought, Mayhew worked with Peters in SF so maybe he stays on as GM if Peters takes the job as head of football operations.

I would think not. I think the Head of Football Operations is the GM anyway. |

I hope not, but they always play with titles to fit people in when it is convenient. |

Mentioned him more than once as our new gm. Would be ecstatic if he was the guy. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
We have already lined up more interviews with qualified candidates than Snyder did in 25 years. Lol.

Besides wanting to win because it's just awesome, I really hope we can magically pull-out an 11 win season next year. Then year 1 under Harris would be more successful than any of the 20+ seasons under shithead. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Yeah i may never be able to tell him what a piece of shit he is but an immediate turnaround under a new owner would be good enough.

Ben Johnson Mike Vrable Bobby Slowik my top 4
Dan Quinn - Retread. Horrible loss to Pats in SB can't be forgiven. No. Ben Johnson - Possible. Mike Vrable - Retread. He got fired because he couldn't get the job done. No. Bobby Slowik - You might be on the right track with this one. Keep repeating this mantra: No retreads. No retreads, etc. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
2021 Coach of year ...yea I believe I'd take Vrabel but he ain't coming here .. Tennessee is stupid for firing him ( they lost 2 games in OT by FG.. 2 more games less than 5 points total ) The guy will end up being a great coach for another team .. if you think Morris would be better than Vrabel then I'm not sure what to say .. look at the Facts .. Morris has .345 winning record .. Vrabel .550 and 2021 coach of year .. some of you guys claim Ron is a loser actually he is about a .500 head coach ..Quinn is over .500 and some of you say you don't want retreads ? Yet Embrace Morris?? He may well end up being a great coach and more power to him but the arguments for him contradict the statements against others ... Tampa fired Morris he isn't considered retread ??
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Don’t sleep on Morris. He might be a different guy at 47 than he was at 35. There’s an inside NFL buzz about him that sounds more like an up and comer than a retread.

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I'd fuckin vomit if they hired Quinn.
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I’d definitely kick the tires on Vrabel. He had underwhelming Titans teams over perform.
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Titans list 2 games in OT by FG .. they lost 2 more games by 5 total points .. they could have been 10 win team if not for that .. I'm not sure you fire 2021 coach of year over this season ( add in they beat Jax last game) .. He will be hired quickly and do well .. I predict he will be first coach hired ... Atlanta most likely..Chargers could use him .
|

"I coulda been somebody!!!" - Marlon Brando in On The Waterfront Yes, Marlon, but you didn't win and you're not. Vrabel was around .500? Big deal. Let an owner who is satisfied with finishing around .500 hire him. |
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
You got Vrabel sitting out there you have to bring him in for an interview. My take on Vrabel is he was working for a cheap organization and had an average to below average QB. Yet he still had some really good years there. He got a lot out of those teams. That to me is the sign of a really good coach. How the hell do you not resign AJ Brwon and expect to be a better team? He'd be on my list right away. He is probably the best guy out there.
|
Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
We will see how this plays out ...this ownership has one shot at this ..the bringing in the next latest greatest coordinator with No head coach experience with a rookie QB sounds like a lot of wishing and hoping ..with my Vrabel comment I'm seeing where the TOP football minds believe he is the top guy available right now as head coach .. I would be very excited to see him come here .. but that's just my opinion ..

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I don't know. He's the best offspring from the Belichick tree, and he's barely over .500. He did get them to the playoffs 3 of 6 years, and is 3-3 (and one game away form the big one in 2019). But they've declined over the last 2 years and seemed to lose their identity since 2021. Is it the coach or the owner/GM? How did they let AJ Brown go?
Certainly interview him but is he the best available? |

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Basically The Tennessee ownership gutted the team and Screwed Vrabel over. lots of info out there about what went down .
Good thing is It looks like Peters is the front runner for GM . |

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
Seems like it’s really about the right combination of GM-HC-QB, not just the “best” in each category. I would love to start with Peters and then trust him to create that combination. No reason Vrabel couldn’t end up being the guy. Kyle Shanahan had a losing record here, so what?

Re: Potential GM/HC/Coaches Thread
I'd only look at the success active coaches have had since leaving Washington anyway, not while they were here. Everyone who's been through those doors since Snyder came on the scene should have an * after their stats for those years, even Ron.

Sure, but crappy situations happen in other places for a variety of reasons. Have to look at more than W-L
