Re: Who is Next?

I would love to see G-Will get the head coaching job here. It seems most of the fans and the players agree as well, I just hope Snyder doesn't go all big name crazy and try to hire someone who has no business being here, i.e. Bill Cowher. It took him 15 years just to win a Super Bowl in Pittsburgh, you think he's likely to do it in less time here?
what about this, GW as HC, if Al does go, hire back steve spurrier. then we will have explosive offense and a solid defense. we can compete with the pats
Spurrier is in year 4 of the rebuilding process at South Carolina and he has already stated he is not leaving after putting so much work into the program already. Alabama tried to lure him away before going with Saban, so Spurrier is staying with the Gamecocks and recently signed anohter extension.

Honestly, no! I have no hard feelings toward Steve Spurrier, heck he's one of the best HC ever to coach in college, but his offense just had too many holes and it just seemed as if there was no structure in playcalling. Spurrier needs to stay coaching in college. Let's keep Al Saunders.
What makes you guys think that GW can lead the complete team? The table is set to get in a proven coach-Cowher. Dont get me wrong, Williams has done wonders on the defense but look at Buffalo-he didnt seem to have it all. GW has had some questionable free agent pick ups too. lets not forget arch deluxe.
Understand your concern. Just remember coaches like Shanahan and Bellicheck (forgive the spelling) didn't start off so hot either with their first teams. Shanahan was canahaned by the Raiduhs. I can't remember exactly where Belli(whatever) first head-coached (Browns? Jets?) and whether he was fired. Of course we can't forget the debacle with former DC Richie Pettibone when he took over for Gibbs 1.0. Hopefully, if GW is given the job, he won't bring about the same poor results following Gibbs 2.0.

Profootballtalk.com is reporting that cerrato has ties with Rex Ryan. Just throwing it in there. I don't know what to make out of all of this. Just give it to GW. He's earned it. However if Ryan is brought in does that mean we switch to a 3-4. He would bring suggs and reed with him i bet.

Re: Who is Next?

Spurrier ruined. or at least helped ruin Patrick Ramsey's career, due to his goofy schemes that left the qb w/no pass protection.

Re: Who is Next?

its called Continuity (SP). if cowher is brought in there goes the rest of coaching staff . he would want a 3-4 def and we are set up for 4-3 basically and cowher would probably clean house ... why not Russ Grimm if not Williams.. keep Williams on Def..

When Greg Williams took over Buffalo they were in cap hell, and did not have the Redskins cap management mentality. They have done nothing since he left.

If its anyone but Gregg Williams, I think the players are going to have some serious, serious issues with that...I think Gregg has earned it, if we can keep him and Saunders I think were going to be in great shape both offensivley and defensivley.

I think your right, but I am wondering how many coaches retire along with Gibbs?

Re: Who is Next?

IMO when the dust settles GW will be the next head coach of the Redskins.

He has also earned the chance, has the respect of the players and will keep continuity within the organization which is very important.

I see the move of GW into the head coach a no brainer.

Belli(whatever) coached the Browns... I think GW is the big front runner and the fact that Gibbs is staying on in the selection process will help. espn.com put together their short list and like always I hope they are way off base. I like Grimm and Singletary but others like Billick? blah

Re: Who is Next?

Why is Spurrier even suggested on this thread, WTF?? GW all the way, we are in a perfect situation for everything to fall into place. If that doesn't happen it will be the most retarded thing I've seen in a while. I say that and watch Bugel be named head coach!

And Rex Ryan of course has ties to his father...Buddy Ryan, who has ties to...Gregg Williams!
