Where's the on-field downside here? He's 25, 2 years removed from back to back Pro Bowl seasons, played under one of the WORST coaches in NFL history in Bobby Petrino-even Warrick Dunn had problems with Petrino, nuff said-and then the worst organization in the league so I'm willing to give him a clean slate.
Off the field, Fletcher, Springs, Campbell and other locker room leaders won't let him become a problem.
Totally! Cry for the Brandon Lloyd deal, not this. No workey out? Toss him for league min........more or less |
Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins
Im glad we got him for a good price and who knows he could be Shawn Springs replacement. If he runs his mouth and acts like a jerk we cut him loose.

go skins!!
I can GUARANTEE you that he won't be wearing a #21 on his jersey! Or at least I'm willing to take that bet with anyone on this planet, until that decision is made! |
Shaun Alexander was low(no)-risk, but he's hurt the quality of our running game.
Even when the contract value is negligible, there is still an opportunity cost of having underachieving players on the roster.
Shaun Alexander will be on the bench once Ladell Betts returns from his injury. Just like D. Hall will be on the bench behind Rogers, Springs, and Smoot if he doesn't work out. |
Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins
This is hilarious:
One fact further illustrates just how bad and embarrassing Oakland’s trade for cornerback DeAngelo Hall this offseason actually was. In addition to a fifth-round pick, the Raiders also traded a second-round pick, the 34th overall selection, to Atlanta for Hall. Well, on draft day, the Falcons wound up trading the 34th and 48th overall pick to Washington for the 21st overall pick. Now, some six months later, the Redskins wound up with Hall and the Raiders second-round pick, which they used on Michigan State wide receiver Devon Thomas. And it cost Oakland $8 million! link: NFL.com Blogs » Blog Archive Redskins even bigger winners in move for Hall «
|

Exactly. Its a bye week, so of course this is the only thing to get worked up about. But as nervous as we all have been to see Torrence on the field in pressure situations, won't you be a little more comfortable with Hall in that same position? All the talk about how much the guy has been picked on this year overlooks one small thing, he was playing opposite the best shut down corner in football right now in Asomugha. I think the most telling statement came from Arthur Blank when he said that Hall just needed to grow up. Well, getting cut from Oakland and having the opportunity to play for the team he grew up wanting to play for may be the spark he needed. He's 24, he's been on top of the world (2 Pro Bowls) and through adversity. He's probably our 2nd most athletic corner right now, with Springs physicality making him numero uno. Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins
According to Vinnie, he consulted with Griff, and London Fletcher before pulling the trigger on the Hall deal. He says they were both HIGHLY in favor of the deal.

Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins
I wonder if that discussion included telling them that Torrence was the most likely to be waived.

It probably went along the lines of... Vinnie: "Hey Griff, London, we're thinking about dropping Leigh for some other CB. What do you guys think?" Chorus: "Effin A!" Vinnie: "Don't you want to know who?" Chorus: "Does it matter?" *Actually, Torrence wasn't all that bad in my book given his role/salary. But I'll take the prospect of what Hall could be for this team over what Torrence already is. |

Hall: 'This Is the Place for Me' From Jason La Canfora: DeAngelo Hall said he chose the Redskins over other suitors because he is from southern virginia, and grew ip dreaming of playing here. He said he hopes to have a future here well beyond the one-year deal he signed. "I just kind of feel like this is the place for me," said Hall, who said his release from Oakland was based solely on his contract and not his conduct. Hall also said of the Skins: "it came down to what team do I feel like I have a future with." |
Re: Hall agrees to one year deal with skins
Hall did an int with Doc, and Kevin a little on 980am a little while ago.
It was great! He took his poison for his alleged sins of the past. He handled it well, said he wants to prove people wrong about him and hopes to have a long term future here, and best of all..........he said.....I CAN'T WAIT TO MEET THE COWBOYS!!!! HTTR!!!!!! |
