Re: Where will McNabb land?
As far as accuracy is concerned McNabb's career completion percentage is 59% Elway, 56%, Marino 59.4%. I'm not implying he's better than those 2 because he's not. However he's not as in-accurate as his detractors make him out to be.
STATS Hosted Solution 19.9% of all of his attempts resulted in "Poor throws". Most of the rest of them have about 13% of all of their attempts being poor throws. Worst on the list, by a pretty wide margin. Only Orton comes close. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
Perfect example was during the Minnesota game. Santana comes across the formation on a slant, it's gain, but McNabb just drills the ball as hard as he can into Moss' hands, and there's no way Moss can catch it. Ball bounces off Moss' hands and ends up being intercepted.
Everyone says it's a drop by Moss, but there was no way anyone could've caught that ball. A little touch would be nice. Armstrong said he already has cartilage damage from catching footballs thrown by McNabb.
Say whatever you want about McNabb. But the pass you describe here is a drop. If it hits the WR in the hands, its a drop. |

Completion %+: Marino 110 Elway 101 McNabb 97 100 is average. This is adjusted for era. The other thing is, you have the end of the careers of Elway and Marino (declining statistics) built in, and McNabb is theoretically still going to play a couple more years that drag down his career averages. At the end of his career, we could be talking about a guy who played his entire career in a west coast offense, and completed 5% fewer of his passes than the average quarterback. Not to draw conclusions about McNabb's career that can't be drawn from simple completion percentage, but that's pretty unimpressive. |

Let's dissect this video of McNabb throwing one pass in Phoenix a million different ways

It's always been his footwork that's really the problem; throwing off balance, throwing off his back foot, taking too big a step during his "wind up". As for the video, he just doesn't look...I don't know if explosive is the right word, but I'm going to use it anyway. Like GTripp said, he just looks old. And I know they're working out in t-shirts and shorts and only going half speed, but I kinda noticed the same thing last season where he wasn't really coming out from under center with some oomph. But I don't really know what I'm talking about, probably, so ignore me. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
For the record, I think this game was the best game McNabb played last season (well, until the two dumbass decisions at the end). I'm disqualifying the Texans game because the Texans secondary was the only one that looked worse than ours last year.
[YT]UAZkGJdcSak[/YT] [YT]5gnkppJ0nsM[/YT] It was also the best game Kyle called all season. Go figure that when the quarterback and the OC are in sync, good things happen. Well, except for the not winning part. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
I thought Houston was one of the better called games by Kyle and the better games played by McNabb.
The Packers game stands out to me because our OL couldn't block anybody and McNabb was able to survive and produce. |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
Well like I said, the Texans game...it's kind of an abberation. Their secondary was pretty awful, and well...he practice against that defense every week for 2-3 years. So I thought the game was an amazing offensive showcase, but considering those factors, I couldn't give it that kind of appreciation.

Re: Where will McNabb land?
I was pretty impressed with his performance in the Packers game as well, but he just moves too slowly now.

Re: Where will McNabb land?
I think the Titans actually may make more sense to McNabb than Minny right now. Maybe Seattle...probably Arizona...although Arizona is in the Kolb Sweepstakes. I guess whoever loses out on Kolb may get McNabb. But Orton may also be available, so who knows. I just hope there is a market for McNabb and we can recoup something from this disaster of a trade.
According to a quote by CSN Washington’s Ryan O’Halloran, the Washington Redskins wouldn’t get more than a “used kicking tee” for quarterback Donovan McNabb, and as a result, will release him before the season begins. O’Halloran is obviously joking but he is implying that it wouldn’t even be worth it for the Redskins to try to trade McNabb, whose value dropped significantly following a disappointing 2010 season. McNabb, 34, is due $12.5 million next season. He was signed to a contract extension before a November game against the Philadelphia Eagles but the contract also includes a loophole in which the Redskins can get out of paying him anything. And they will. McNabb may be a starter next season (although I don’t expect it) but it won’t be for the Redskins. |

Re: Where will McNabb land?
They're not going to trade him. They realize they're not going to get value for him after last season, and they put the out clause in his contract in there specifically because of that. McNabb will get cut with no compensation unless McNabb wants to restructure his contract, which he won't want to.

He may just stay in D.C who knows |
Re: Where will McNabb land?
I think the only thing that's for sure is DM won't be back. How he moves on is the only question.
