Deserves a Scud Stud just from that Tweet alone. :laughing-
That was ****ing dumb on so many levels. Mainly because someone else got in trouble for saying virtually the same exact thing on Twitter. |
Honestly, I don't think he's any better at covering then Brian Westbrook. He just has a bigger contract.
There is no way you're serious lol.. If Westbrook was that good then he would be starting over Wilson too. Hall does a solid job in covering. He doesn't shut down the big time WR's for a whole game like some elite CB's do, but I never expect him too.. Dez Bryant burned Revis and both of the Eagles CB's this year too.. Just saying, that Dez is a monster and covering him for a long amount of time is a miracle. |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
I enjoy the shit talking.. What I can't stand is when we are losing, i'm watching Rocky Mcintosh start pushing and fighting the other team while we are losing
I find it kinda odd that Kerrigan and Rak's numbers are very similar across the board. So Kerrigan is ballin' yet Rak isn't?
Or more curiously...Andre Carter is making them both look a bit underwhelming. |

And that is with Rak having an off year IMO |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Rak will get his. The package is not built yet up front. Kerrigan is one piece that is there to complement him. But that 3-4 demands a zero technique NT that occupies two blockers each play. Look at most, if not all, good 3-4 defenses that have a dominant pass rusher from the weak side, they have a dominant NT in the middle that gets pressure up the gut.
Thats one of the reasons Demarcus Ware is so successful....Jay Ratliff. When you have a NT that is constantly getting penetration up the middle, then, the double team and the check block by the RB/FB happens at that point of attack and then your OLB can feast. Give the defense time to get those key personnel to compliment one another. Rak will be a dominant force. They don't put him on the weak side for nothing. |

You know that's interesting. I was thinking the same thing the other day... then I realized, MAYBE IT'S WHAT THE COACHES TELL HIM TO DO. If the coaches wanted him to play near the line, they would. Why does every fan think they know so easily where to lay the blame? J
I understand that, and have given that some thought. But I also think the coaches give the corners a little wiggle room and allow them to play at a comfortable yardage. What I am saying is that on 3rd down or 2nd long we have blitzed a good bit. And when you blitz like we do, you'd like to have the corners up, chucking the receivers at the line, throwing off the timing of the routes. He allows the receivers to get a clean break from the line then he just turns and runs ahead of the receiver. I doubt Haslett is telling him to play like that. |

He's on pace to top his numbers from last year, just sayin |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
I can't understand the bitching and moaning about Orakpo. The dude has been a tremendous talent his 1st two years and was asked to do alot of blitzing last year. I am sure that his numbers are a little down this year with the addition of Karriker(SP). #91 is a rookie and is playing extremely well on the outside. I would venture that he getting a decent amount of sacks has taken away from Orakpo's numbers. Just because we are losing people want to pick something to bitch about. Orakpo isn't one of the things to bitch about people. Dude is stud. We have a very good tandem of outside LB's in this 3/4 for the forseeable future. We need to surround them with studs as well. WHich Perry Riley (I have said since we drafted him) is a keeper. He plays with a mean streak and is all over the field. We are building a young, fast, physical defense that next year or the following year will be terrific.

Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Let me clarify where I'm coming from w/Rak; I'm not saying he's one of our main problems, not saying he's playing poorly even.
I am saying that I'm disappointed w/his progress to this point. I don't think his pass rushing is as good as last year when he was getting held all over the place. When watching him rush he seems to lack a counter move. Kerrigan has mainly gotten coverage sacks, it's not that he's gotten to the qb quickly that often. Rak hasn't gotten there quickly much either. Also, v. the run I find it hard to say that one of the OLBs didn't contain the edge, as we never know the call. But some teams have definitely run his way w/success. Take a look at the wash. examiner 10 observations article about the game, John Klein said that a dallas source said there plan was to run at Rak & Bowen. They didn't have success at it, but its interesting that they wanted to go to that side. No way I want to see Rak traded next year, just want to see him become an elite OLB. Right now I don't see that. |

I just find it hard to throw Rak under the bus when the whole team is shitty. Rak and Kerrigan are one of the bright spots of this organization. Rak still gets pressure, but lets remember that there is now two years of game tape on him vs when he was a rookie and 2nd year player. Teams game plan for him now and olineman have film to study. So as he plays another year or two he will come into his own. Lets not forget he is relatively still a very young player, 3rd year. Next year should be a coming out year. Plus, we are putting players around him that he hasn't played with before, guys that have not played in a 3/4 and they are adjusting as well. Much like offensive lineman, it takes a year to form a group that works in tandem. |

But our best is not even close to the best other teams offer. Orakpo does not deserve to be considered among the elites like until he starts destroying every LT he faces just like the elites do instead of getting stuffed by Doug Free. |

wow. am i the only one that thinks this is really harsh assessment of Orakpo?? THe guy has been really really good over the last couple of years. I dont think he is playing horrible this year. Do you know think that Kerrigan may be taking away some of his sack numbers? I just think as a whole our D line is better as a whole as well, which may have taken a couple sacks away from him. I didn't see him getting mushed all day. He got pressure, made some plays. On the TD late in the game, he was visibly held that should have been called. Still dont understand how the ref missed that when he was 5 yards away. He was basically pulling him down by the neck of his jersey. anyway, I think bashing Orakpo or calling him out is a little nit picky |
Re: Smoot Lays the Smack Down (Cowboys at Redskins)
Brian Orakpo is a beast. He can play defensive end in a 4-3 or OLB in a 3-4. He's a phenom. While I expected more sacks out of him after ten games, I still see his effectiveness in the defense and his ability to make the offense account for him on every play. When Orakpo goes in for a sure sack, he never tries to strip the ball. He just goes for the sack like when he sacked Cam Newton but didn't go for the strip. The great ones like Lawrence Taylor, Wilbur Marshall, and Derrick Thomas all went for the strip and got sacks as well created turnovers. Orakpo must learn to do this.
