Re: Official Super Bowl Thread

I don't believe in Kyle Orton, but I also wouldn't look at Eli Manning's career up until this year and be all "Pfft, Kyle Orton could never do that." Nor would I look at Ryan Tannehill and say he could never do that.

Right now, having Eli Manning is a pretty significant difference between the Redskins and the Giants. It wasn't always like that; in fact for most of Eli's time as Giant QB, the Redskins enjoyed QB play in the same class.

Going forward, it's tough to see Eli having too many bad games against us, but his last two or three have not been all that great.

I still do not think of the Giants as a dominate Super Bowl team when you think of their record etc... Although it just shows that record and stat doesn't mean everything. The will and heart to win is HUGE.

Some of that's on Tom Brady. He threw a few balls behind receivers tonight. They had some drops but so did the Giants. Manningham had a huge ****up on a deep pass where he could have gotten his feet in bounds but failed to do so. Also dropped another pass that killed a drive. Granted Welker probably should have caught it, but this wasn't a routine catch and Welker had to twist his body to catch that or it wasn't happening.

I know you guys don't want to fault Tom for anything, but the guy isn't infallible.

Not only Eli, but also in their DL, S, WRs. I agree that he's a big part. QB play can make or break a team sometimes.

Nah, come on. That's a tough catch and most certainly not a routine one. I'm putting that on Brady for failing to put the ball in a spot where his receiver had the best chance to make a play on it. Brady had multiple throws in the game where he didn't put the ball in the best spot. That was one of them.

Ugh. Devin Thomas and Antrel Rolle are SB champions. :/
I think this game signifies the importance of getting a franchise qb. Which is why I don't want to settle for Orton/Tannehill, or whatever pair of 2nd rate qb's is available. I mean when was the last time a team won a Super Bowl without a franchise guy at qb? Baltimore with Trent Dilfer? The NFL today is set up for elite quarterbacks to succeed, not just in the regular season but in the SB. If Luck or RG3 is that guy, than we need to go get him. No more settling for 2nd best.
This, This, and more This.

The problem with the we beat the Super Bowl champion logic is that this has happened even way back in 2001. That's exactly why the whole season is a better predictor than one or even two games.

The Giants didnt dominate this season, but won the games that matter. I know we dont have a lot of talent, but I would like to see some leadership from our coaching staff. Our team play unimpressive at times and did not seem to come through in big game.

We also need a complete team, or at least one where one area picks up where another area doesnt play well. Yes we are in DESPERATE need for a franchise QB, but we also need our coach to figure out how to make the players win the big games, and a solid overall team.

Pretty much their whole team is better not just Eli.. folks are crazy if they think Manning would make us a true sb team with our offense

It means nothing and honestly it's loser talk.

It's kinda embarrassing to see some Skins players on Twitter bragging they swept the Giants this year.

The difference between drafting #6 and #32 says it all.

You mean like we did with Jason Campbell? No wait...Heath Shuler? wait....you mean Patrick Ramsey.

See, that's the thing, you don't know who's going to hit or who's going to miss. If you throw a ton of picks away, your team will continue to be shitty. If you keep your picks and your QB fails, your team will still be very competitive and you could do well. (49ers)

I personally think the Giants have underperformed the past 5 years. They've had too much talent to have the records they've had. (much like the Cowboys) I thought they would be shit this year because of all their injuries and lack of FA movement in the OL/WR, but Cruz broke through big time on the WR front. I think they got healthy and hot at the right time.
