Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
I didn't mean unknown as in he might not have any skills. Honestly I was typing and my mind was going faster then my hands so I'm not even sure why I wrote that.
I think what I was trying to say was his (unknown) is not going to be much different then what the teams I mentioned already have and then I went on to point out that their QB's are pocket passers also. So instead of taking him which will take some time for him to learn the system and for everyone on offense to get on page with each other they would be better served to keep their current QB's who already know their systems and might provide more wins now over taking Luck. In the long run Luck would probably be better then what they have but with the win now mentality "I" think they would be better served staying put. RGIII offered something Luck didn't and something their current QB's do not and thats mobility.
So you think Luck is just a pocket passer? |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
We need to prepare ourselves for the possibility that we may not land our Franchise QB this season.
First, there will be a number of other teams who will be trying just as hard as we will be to land a Franchise QB. We may simply be outmaneuvered by a couple of other teams. Peyton Manning is going somewhere and, with the stage of rebuilding we're currently in, I don't think it will be here. He's almost certainly going to sign where nearly all of the pieces are already in place for him to have a good shot at ending his career with a glorious Super Bowl winning season. That seems to me to be what the great Peyton Manning would do. He won't be going anywhere just to get a paycheck. BTW, we may all be surprised by the team he picks. The Jets? The Ravens? The Texans? Secondly, I believe that RGIII will make an unbelieveable impression at the NFL Combine, on and off the field. Teams, even some unexpected teams, will be trying to top one another's offers to St. Louis to move up to #2 in the draft. As I stated here before, if Cleveland wants RGIII bad enough, they'll get him because their situation with the #4 pick and the #22 pick sets up a situation that is just about perfect for St. Louis to have a remarkable draft if they trade the #2 pick to Cleveland. And, of course, Andrew Luck will be picked either #1 or #2. That's it folks! You now have the complete list of potential Franchise QB's projected to be available in 2012. So what should we do? 1. Load up as much as we can in FA in anticipation of having fewer draft picks this year if we are fortunate enough to trade for the #2. 2. Sign a mid-level QB in FA who can be either the interim starter or the backup. 3. Do everything possible, perhaps a little beyond reasonable, to acquire the #2 pick. 4a. If we get the #2 pick, wait to see who Indy takes between Luck and Griffin III and then put in our card one picosecond later for the other one. 4b. If we don't get the #2 pick, then proceed with the draft in the normal fashion, targeting a good young QB in the early rounds. The plan seems rather simple to me but, as the old saying goes, the devil is in the details.
I think I agree with you. I don't agree with the statement about PM and our state of "rebuilding." I think we are farther along then the other teams that would need his services. His only other option would be to by choice go to a team that already has an established QB and team and has made a run in the playoffs. and I don't think he's going to want to sit on the bench just to get another ring. Dolphins Browns Vikes Rams Jaguars Bucks are not in better shape then we are. Houston maybe but they have an established QB. Dallas maybe. I could see that since JJ was shopping at the Senior Bowl and mentioned he is always looking to upgrade that position. lol. Bills... maybe. Titans... maybe just to sling mud at the Colts. I just don't see any team with an established QB that would take him over what they already have. |
I think I heard that RG3 won't be throwing at the combine. I think he and Tannehill are just doing measurements and interviews. Maybe the 40 for RG3 but I'm not sure
I think he'll make a big impression whether or not he throws and I assume he'll throw at his Pro Day. By Draft Day, I believe that St. Louis will be conducting a process that is tantamount to an auction for the #2 pick. |

I think the Dolphins will trade up for him, that's my current guess |

I'm looking for a solid team that has a good but not great QB to make a bold, risky move to go for the Super Bowl in the 2012 season. I'm not saying that the team that signs him will be making a wise choice, but more of a desperate choice. For example, the Jets. They were a huge disappointment this past season. They have a QB who may not be good enough to back up the bravado of their big-mouth coach. PM might give them a chance to go to a SB. Another example is the Ravens. If Ray Lewis and Ed Reed come back for one last hurrah, they'll do it to win a Super Bowl. In Baltimore, what Ray Lewis wants, Ray Lewis gets. Is PM the final ingredient for the Ravens to win another SB? I think he could be. PM to Baltimore is not out of the question IMO. |

I like RGIII, but the Colts would be insane to pass over Luck. I just don't see it happening unless someone knocks their socks off with a trade offer.

Not sure, think it might be the Vikings that make the trade |

The Colts picked Edge over Ricky Williams, that was a big bomb back then and that was in the age of when RB's were gods. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
I agree. Based off of what I said above though. I also feel Luck would be better in our system then RGIII. I love the idea of RGIII and his mobility but I don't see our coaching staff changing our system to RGIII's abilities. Basically we would be sitting back as fans screaming for him to run the whole time we are watching him getting sacked. <- just my feeling.
Our coaching staff I think would prefer a pocket passer who will go through all his progressions and can feel the pressure and step aside to elude it. Why I think Beck was sitting in the pocket more then Grossman and hardly ran for first downs himself.
I seem to recall Shanahan running a system in Denver that would match RGIII's skills very well. I think our coaches could find a way to adjust if Redskins do wind up with Griffin! |
