Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Why would we trade those guys. They gave us FIVE WHOLE WINS last year.
Totally lost my mind, next years class will be better. My 10th grade Calculus teacher used to say that everyday. I'm sure George Feeny from Boy Meets World said it too. |
I agree, a guy with this ability and mindset doesnt come around much and he is within our reach! we need to trade up for him and i hope we do sooner or later to give me peace of mind. When do you think it will happen if it does?
Convential wisdom and common sense says draft day but I have a feeling before the end of March. |

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
It's not coming down I promise. I think in the end we give up a 1st, 2nd, and 4th this year and a 1st next year.

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
At this juncture, I wouldn't be surprised if Grossman isn't re-signed. The guy just turns the ball over entirely too much. The coaches still like Beck, but no matter how much Beck talks about believing in himself, he's proven that he can't cut it in the NFL. No even Heath Shuler was ever 0-8 as a starter. No one is talking about Jonathan Crompton. I saw highlights of him playing for the Tennessee Volunteers. He was good and has potential. The one thing that Crompton has going his way is that he's had time to grow into Kyle Shanahan's playbook. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends of the back up QB when the regular season begins.

I think they get a handshake deal and make the trade official the night before the draft but actually making it official this early? You have to know on April 26th that RGIII is healthy. Unless of course they make some sort of provision that says if RGIII suffers a major injury before draft day then the trade becomes void but I don't think thats ever happened. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
I agree, I just wouldn't be surprised if the deal happened before the draft.

im so down with that. well worth it in my eyes from what i think rg3 is worth. i believe there will be a handshake deal too just not sure when and if/when there is do you think it will be public or behind the scenes? |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Probably behind the scenes

Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Here's the thing though about RG3 compared to the QB's we've been looking at in the draft the last few years. This is not only the first one where 90%+ is willing to trade up to get him, but probably the first QB ever where people are on board with the possibility of giving up multiple first to get him. Nothing remotely close to that happened with Sanchez, Bradford, or Gabbert. Heck people would have flipped if we gave up a second round pick to move up for Gabbert last year.
Either way RGIII is not your average prospect. I'm looking at the drafts over the past decade and I don't think I can find one besides this year where he wouldn't have been the number 1 QB off the board. To think that there are two prospects in the same draft like Luck and RG3, it's amazing. I mean think about these QB's on draft day 2011 - Cam Newton 2010 - Sam Bradford 2009 - Matt Stafford 2008 - Matt Ryan 2007 - JaWalrus Russell 2006 - Vince Young 2005 - Alex Smith 2004 - Eli Manning 2003 - Carson Palmer 2002 - David Carr 2001 - Michael Vick 2000 - Chad Pennington 1999 - Tim Couch 1998 - Peyton Manning We have to go back 8 years to find a better draft day prospect then Robert Griffin. Then you have to go back another 6 years (both guys are named Manning). Take that wait till next year crowd.
Look at your list you are also showing that there is a 50/50 chance this won't work .Out of your list there are only 3 Super bowl QB's on the list (I don't count Carr) |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
I think they have a take it or leave it offer ready for Manning. Which I hear may be acceptable to him. Don't know what the offer is, or what other teams might be thinking.
As for Griffin, everyone talks about us getting a great deal bc Fisher and Shanahan are good friends. I say so what. There are great friends all around the league. But for shots and giggles let's go with that and say they're conspiring to drive up the price Cleveland has to pay. Really all depends on Manning and Flynn I think
I was thinking the same thing. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
I want Manning, Griffin, and VJAX! Talk about reloading lol. That would be a football dream come true, one which is highly probable of materializing.
I was thinking the same thing.
I dont know if thats the case but there is no reason to strike any kind of deal now. Only a sucker would make a bid before free agency begins and some teams solve their QB problems via free agency. Shanny is no sucker. |
Re: QB Combo Possibilities: Which Do You Want (QB Rumors: Verse 10)
Anyone know what the franchise tag would net him?
If tagged this year Brees would get 16 mil and change. If it is true he wants 25 mil a year it would actually be prudent for the Saints to franchise him the next three years at 120% of the previous year's salary. Instead of 23-25 mil per year the Saints could guarantee they would have him at 16, 18 and 20 mil and change the next three years. At which time he would be 36 and most likely headed for a decline in his playing ability. |

I don't think going or winning a SB necessarily makes you a great or bad QB there are to many other variables in the formula to sole say the team made or didn't make the SB becasue of it's QB play. |
