Sounds like surgery time if you ask me.

Are there no MRI machines in DC all of a sudden?
I have a feeling it'll be the ACL based on this image posted last night by one of the members here.

ACL tears affect the lateral movement of a knee. When one tears, the knee will go in directions it really wasn't meant to go in.

Also, the fact they haven't came out and said the results yet is a telling sign. Not even going to mention how Shanahan brought up Adrian Peterson in his presser.

Adam Schifter is reporting that the inconclusiveness of the MRIs is probably encouraging because they can't find anything new considering his previous ACL injury while at Baylor and the LCL injury against the Ravens.

I think everyone needs to calm down until we know for sure. All ANYONE is doing now is aimlessly speculating, and it's not helpful.

article says 9-12 months, where did you hear 14 months?
If Griffin has torn the ACL again, he would likely require a rehabilitation period of nine to 12 months, putting his status for next season in jeopardy.
There is a big difference between 9 months (meaning possible early season return) and 14 months (miss whole season).

I hate to even bring this up, but the question is too burning in my mind to not: if it is a serious injury that keeps him out extended time from next year, what does that mean of Shanahan?

Everyone already thinks it was a terrible decision, but to have your star player that you traded so much for and invested in go down because of a decision like that... it would be real interesting to see the reaction.

How long was he out when he tore his ACL at Baylor?

What are you gonna do... fire Shanahan over a guy getting injured? I think that would be going a tad overboard.

You can't blame him 100%.

Let's just do this, cut RG3, fire Shanahan, and fire Dr. Andrews. F em all.

they just updated it. when I first read it after it was posted it did say RG3 could possibly miss 14-16 months.

Funny story......He actually played an entire half on it if I remember right. but then was sidelined for most the season...guess what happened after that?

Re: As long as RGIII is 100% for 2013 training camp...

This is all speculative, but lets say RGIII recovers pretty well and is physically able to play with a brace of some kind in the season opener next year. You know... he can play the way he's played the past month (excluding yesterday). My CONCERN is RGIII would absolutely try to get on the field, and Shanahan has demonstrated multiple times this year he thinks a 50% RGIII is better than a 100% Cousins. I'm worried he would end up playing, only to be hurt again.

I WOULD HOPE that this injury has taught RGIII and Shanahan a lesson they will not forget, and that RGIII shoudl not play AT ALL unless he can play 100% without any kind of brace. As we saw Sunday, the brace slipped out of position, and thats probably what resulted in this injury.

I would rather RGIII sit the entire 2013 season and roll with KC as our starter than risk having him at 50% for 8 games and then miss the other 8 due to another season-ending injury. When 100% healthy, RGIII is INCREDIBLY more dangerous than most other quarterbacks in the league, including Kirk Cousins. But at anything less than 100%, i dont think there's that much of a difference. Yes, he's our franchise quarterback, but that doesnt mean we should play him when it doesnt give our team the best chance to win.

He's done it before too. Now, in terms of how possible it is to come back from two ACL tears, I don't know those stats, but here are Griffin's stats from the year he tore his ACL, and the year right after:

passing
2009 45 69 65.2 481 7.0 8.1 4 0 142.9
2010 304 454 67.0 3501 7.7 7.9 22 8 144.2
Rushing
2009 27 77 2.9 2 0 0 0 27 77 2.9 2
2010 149 635 4.3 8 1 9 9.0 0 150 644 4.3 8

I know stats always format ugly, so here is the link if anyone wants to see the formatted version:

Not that I am being optimistic, but a lot of (not-so-reliable) news outlets are going to put up outrageous stuff out there for a while until everything is confirmed.

RT @DanHellie: Report out of Richmond from WRIC about @RGIII tearing ACL/PCL and being out 14-18 months is false. They are recanting story.
