WP updated their article from earlier with this:

"Update: 3:37: Redskins officials have told people in the league that they are considering going to court to seek an injunction that would hold up the start of free agency or threatening that move in a bid to bolster their negotiating leverage with the league. Those conversations were confirmed by two people with knowledge of them.
Both said that the Redskins have compelling arguments they could make in an attempt to convince a judge that they would suffer irreparable harm if they are not granted an injunction. But others familiar with the case have said they don’t believe the Redskins have legal arguments that weren’t already considered, and rejected, by an arbitrator."

Love that they're going to the mat on this. They won't win in court though. Leverage is all they can hope for.
good job keeping up with this.

What do we got to lose at this point? Id say go for it
Yeah it's worth one last ditch effort. Even if we just got $9M of that cap space back it would be a big win.
Agreed. The nfl is a weird business; they fine teams for wanting to spend money on players, and fine players for not dressing accordingly, yet don't fine players for pushing referees.
@Rich_Campbell: My top takeaway from Indy: the Redskins' $18M cap penalty is quite disruptive, per NFL sources. Tough decisions, frustration lie ahead.
With a healthy RG-3 we got a punchers chance no matter what happens.

Amazing what a slow day at work can do...

Have to give the Skins FO (under Bruce Allen) credit for working the media to their advantage. All we can do is have faith in their PR strategy at this point. Can't see what the legal argument is that the NFLPA hasn't already made to Judge Doty (and lost). "Irreparable harm" is not a cause of action, it is one of the requirements for a TRO. Also need likelihood of success on the merits of whatever it is they are alleging as their cause of action.

Remember that the NFLPA case is entirely separate from anything that the Redskins might argue in court. It would be huge if the Skins were to go forward with this, and I think absolutely crazy. But from a NFL perspective, holding up Free Agency, or the start of the league year, or any other aspect, would certainly cause owners to think twice about the fine in it's entirety.

Go Danny go, kick everyone in the nuts and show them who is king. Make Mara and his cronies regret pulling this stunt.

From the PFT Article:
They could bebluffing about going to court in order to get, for example, half of their cap money back (i.e., the $18 million that would apply to this year’s cap). But the NFL could choose to call their bluff and go to court.
Snyder took impoverished old ladies to court for not paying their season ticket fees and a newspaper to court for disparaging his wife. Why on earth would the NFL think he wouldnt sue their asses off for illegally colluding to screw him over? If they think he's bluffing, theyre in for a shock.

The league screwed us over on the eve of free agency last year. I love the idea of holding the whole league hostage on the eve of free agency this year.

....and he lost in both cases. The old lady fought back and won and the paper fought back and everything was drop.

For one, I'm excited. I bet the other owners are pissed that we might hold Free Agency up by filing. lol.

The NFLPA has lost their claim cause they supposedly signed a contract that they would not file any claim for collusion. The Redskins and Cowboys never signed an agreement and got punished for doing nothing. So if anyone has a claim its the two teams for being punished for not breaking the law (colluding) and god knows the NFL does not want to lose their freedom to do what they want vs being overseen by the feds.

I agree with you and think this option is awesome. Lets air the dirty laundry ... collusion. lol.

Question, so would this just be the Skins or would the Cowboys join the Skins?

Unless it had a chance to succeed, I don't think Jerry would join in because he wants to bring the Superbowl to his stadium. Danny knows he won't get a Superbowl anytime soon.
