Like the OC choice. Prefer philbin if he got canned from the dolphins
Oh, me too but just thought it would be wierd to include him as OC if Clements was the HC. But net-net I like the Philbin's scheme better then Houston's.
I don't spend as much time at Redskins Park as I once did, but I do drop in from time to time. And those who spend a lot of time will also tell you it's not like the "lazy, get your paycheck and go home" Spurrier era, nor the "watch your back, don't trust the person next to you" Cerrato/Zorn era. There are some football related disagreements but most everyone will tell you the culture in the locker room and across the organization is quite strong, not Joe Gibbs strong, but strong nonetheless...which is what makes this all so puzzling
Well, Mike got the keys to the kingdom, and his job was safe for a few years. Im sure too that his intentions were true. Problem is he and his staff did not have what it takes to build a winner. Lets not look to far into it for some mysterious reason why this happened. Nobody said Mike was lazy, like Spurrier. He never had to watch his back like Zorn, because Dan wanted to believe the same thing we all did. That he was going to win a championship just like he did in Denver.
He failed. Miserably. Next.
Its a Skins fans worst nightmare and im sure Shanny is genuinely ticked off about the end results. Very sad.

My lazy and watch your back comments were about the players, not the head coach
My lazy and watch your back comments were about the players, not the head coach
Yeah I realized that. I should have been clearer. Mike would not condone laziness, and the watch your back crap was because of just complete instability bought on by a coach with zero foundation to stand on.
Edit: the vision i believe was pure and true with Mike and there was some history to back it up. Not like Spurrier or Zorn. It makes it harder to swallow blowing it all up this time around. Mike did himself zero favors with the staff he put in place imo.

Collect all the disparate coaches not named shanahan and add them together, and you'll find a lot more people want someone else than they want Shanny.

Good point. If the poll was should Shanny stay or go it would be a majority go.

Extremeskins has that poll going and Mike is winning pretty handily.

I would much rather have Jay Gruden than Jon

I'm still waiting for Jay to prove something. Now if Jon gets the nod and he brings in his bro Jay ..... well then I'd be ok with it.

What exactly do you need him to prove?

JoeRedskin 11-27-2013 04:46 PM

What had Gibbs proved before he got here? Not saying Jay Gruden's the next Gibbs. Just saying picking the right coach is a bit of crap shoot no matter how you go about it.

That's insane, but I guess not surprising. Haven't visited that site in years.
