Re: Mike Shanahan was Ready to Leave Washington after 2012 Season
Most of the roster will be turned over within two years, so it doesn't really matter one way or the other.
If Griffin gets worse about alienating his teammates, then there's a problem. But he's 23 and getting used to fame, and I'm not worried about it. |
I agree with Chico. If we can give Bruce Allen a chance next year with a full salary cap, he'll fix a lot of holes on this team. We have a very good, young core and can can be good for years to come once we get the supporting cast. It was impossible to build a competitive team with that cap penalty.
Special teams especially suffered. We couldn't afford to keep Lorenzo Alexander and that was a huge hit to that unit. We couldn't afford a solid #2 WR. We had to just live with the scrubs on the offensive line and at safety. Depth was another thing lost. Once we had a few injuries to guys like Carricker, Bowen, Thomas, there was simply no one behind them and our decent preseason depth chart was obliterated. Disaster year but believe it or not, this team is in the right direction. It may not be an easy job, but we have some bright spots for the future. Hopefully we'll switch back to a 4-3, using Kerrigan and Orakpo in their natural DE positions to do what they do best. We'll get a good complementary WR for Garcon. Griffin, Morris and Reed will continue to succeed. An offensive line is one thing we've been missing since our great squad of Jon Jansen, Chris Samuels, Randy Thomas, Derrick Dockery and Ray Brown. Vinny seemed to completely disregard the need for it, thinking weapons alone can make a good offense. We just couldn't afford upgrades the past couple years. I fully expect an overhaul outside of Trent coming.
I really hope the team can make good personnel decisions going forward. We have some good players in key positions (QB, RB, LT, WR1, and OLBs), but we're going to need some decent/solid players in the offensive line, among in the Linebackers, and in the Secondary |

Upgrading the offensive line and the secondary would help tremendously! But I have to say, after this year, if the special teams are not completely overhauled then the effort this franchise puts into upgrading the defense will be all for naught. You just simply can't win ball games when the special teams gives up over 300 yards and two touchdowns. |
And what message is that? I think most pro players know starting QBs ARE above the rest of the team. You think Tom Brady with his super model wife, endorsements and pretty hair is just one of the guys to other players? Probably not, but the question is whether the other players respect him when it comes to football. They do. And our team respects Rob.
Maybe Dan should try something new and stop sniffing jocks!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

Understand, but Bob is not Tom Brady. Not even close. Also, do you know all the players respect Bob, or are you assuming again? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

There are lots of personel decisions to be made on others as well. Not a bad thing. Cap hit blessing in disguise, this situation coulda been alot worse. Skins in a great position contract wise in a ton of areas. |

Turn over a lot of the pieces they know won't contribute long term, but give the Garcon's, Hankerson's, Morris', Helu's, and DY's a chance to earn it in a new system. Would be shocked if all the FA spending next year wasn't on defense and the OL. Grab a receiver with the second round pick, see if Jordan Reed can stay healthy a whole year, and roll with it. |

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Look at the situation. Read what gets reported and evaluate it. When crap comes out about Bob what happens? The players around him bolt to defend. You hear anyone bolt to defend Shanny yet? Given everything that is out there right now it is looking more and more like MS has been systematically positioning himself to not take blame. That has included trying to divvy out accountability in every direction but those that reflect badly on him. Nothing towards KS (who I imagine is dying to get out of all of this), nothing towards any of his crony coaches, nothing towards Burns (his hire). Everything towards those that make him feel insecure. |
Yes i am :-) we are all playing the assumption game. What I do know is there is a problem with this organization, and one person has been is the drivers seat.

How do you know? You have no idea what the players think of him. I'm sure if you asked Moss, Garcon or some of his O-linemen they'd probably have a different opinion from yours. |
