Re: Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday
I actually think Shanahan did exceptionally well in the conference today. He seemed honest and forthright. He said Dan was 100% behind the decision to bench RGIII. He also admitted he made a mistake for not pulling him from the Seattle game.
To be completely honest, im starting to think there is a chance (although not a overwhelming one) that Shanahan comes back next year.
Snyder is really in a lose-lose situation. If he's not behind it, Shanny's right and he paints himself as a tyrant. Supporting Shanny means the Redskins organization looks like the idiot ship with Shanny as captain and himself as first mate. Figure he picked the lesser of two evils. |

I'm confused.... His relationship with Cousins seems to be fine what does he have to work on? ;) |

These boards are going to get pretty quiet when Cousins inevitably stinks up the joint. |
Re: Kirk Cousins Expected To Start Sunday
Of course DS is behind it. It would cost him 7 mill if he wasnnt. He is admitting fault about the Seattle game now just to back up his benching of RG-3. It is all a chess match now between him and Snyder and there is 7 mill on the line.
Man you guys read way too much into stuff when you get mad at someone. lol. MS admitted at the end of last year he should have taken RG3 out of the game. But I don't see how that detrimental to the team? RG3 is a grown man and could have said "coach my knee is busted up I can't play" <did he do that? no. I think it falls on both of them AND the damn doctor who failed to check him out when he came off the field. |
im gonna nit-pic here. i dont know why the article said shanahan was a large reason for the skins getting the cap penalty.
the cap penalty/violation was for the structure of the contract vinny had AH and hall sign so i dont really know why that is put at shanahan's feet. the violation came at the time of signing, which was on DS and vinny's watch. just nit-picking though. im looking forward to watching mike's presser once it is up. sounds like he has gone full asshole but im gonna wait to watch and make up my own mind
Wrong. The penalty was for Shanny and Bruce Allen restructuring the original contracts, pushing a large portion as guaranteed money into the uncapped year (2010), reducing future cap liability. I still feel that this was legal since there was no CBA, and that year had no salary cap, but the owners colluded to not go there, and Dallas and Washington thumbed their noses at the rest of the owners. Bullshit penalty, but Vinny had ZERO to do with it. |

I hope Cousins does well, it'd be nice to win for a change. But Cousins isn't gonna start for the Redskins, I mean he'd have to have 3 Peyton Manning type showings for him to even get consideration to be a starter here. And I don't even think that would do it. |

Restructuring there contracts so all the prorated money would be charged to the uncapped year. This caused some teams to lose players at the position, because it made the franchise tag huge for the two positions. It was all Shannahan's fault. |

Vinny signed a worthless piece of shit to a record high amount for a player on defense. Vinny has every single bit to do with it |

He completely might. WE don't know cause he didn't get 90% of the reps his first year and when he did get 90% of the reps in the off season they benched him for the guy who did nothing but therapy on his knee all off season. If you guys are expecting Cousins to walk on the field and run a spread offense with the read option and be better then RG3 then your nuts. Which I presume you guys already know and are saying Cousins will be worse. I agree. But, if Cousins is not asked to run a spread offense/read option and is only asked to run Mike Shanahan's offensive scheme MS ran in Denver then Cousins I think could pull it off. Elway pulled it off. and Elway was no RG3. Who knows maybe there was some big meeting with Snyder, Allen and Shanahan and they all agreed to get away from the read option and Kyle Shanahan's scheme and have Mike Shanahan use his scheme he used in Denver for his last year. If he can get RG3 up to speed reading defenses and making the right decisions then great if he can't then hopefully Cousins sitting two years made good use of the time to study the opposing defenses. |

I think that the team is so bad that it doesn't matter who you really put there because they can't do anything right on any phase. If Cousins plays well, and whoever coaches the Skins next year feels like he gives them the best chance to win, they will hopefully roll with Cousins and not care what RG3 thinks, what Snyder thinks, or what the fan base thinks. A coach will be successful in Washington when he does what he thinks is best, and doesn't let outside influences sway his decision. Hopefully the next coach will not be Shanahan and do what he wants to do and not try to blame everyone else. |
