Re: Day 3 thread rounds 4-7
It been a proven fact in the NFL, the stronger your front line is the better the secondary looks. You have a pro bowl front and it makes good-mediocre Guys in the secondary look like all stars as well

EDIT: found the link, we're the only team whose all draft picks are rated above 80 !!! https://www.profootballfocus.com/news/pro-all-32-nfl-teams-2018-nfl-draft-grades |

Settle, Payne, and Ionnidis can all rotate in at NT as well as DT. It's nice having lots of options now. |

I am hoping someone might start a Thread on our undrafted free agent signings. I am having trouble finding intel on them.

Yeah, I'm aware that even their NFL players grades aren't 100% accurate, and have no idea how much tape they watched on college players, nor if the grades are somehow influenced by the level of teams and players they played against... Which is a pretty big bias. So it's hard to know how it will translate in the NFL, still it's good to know a team of people with good football knowledge, after spending time watching films, think our scouting department was right on point ! |

I'm pumped about this season. |
Love the settle pick. He’s gonna be our starting nose and Payne can play outside now. No ones going to run on us.
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well .... let's not get ahead of ourselves. Rookies gonna rookie. One of the reasons he slipped was due to his motivation and energy being questioned. In college, it's easy for big, heavy linemen to look good just b/c they just push guys around due to their weight or b/c they can't be pushed around due to their weight. To make it as a NT at the next level, guys need to really be able to play to their weight. Otherwise, they will get shoved around. As a side note, whenever I watch college or CFL games, it is striking to me how noticeable the difference is between them and the NFL. All the windows - running lanes, coverage openings, routes to the QB for pass-rushers, etc - are all much, much smaller at the pro level. The game is just so much faster in the NFL that tenths of a second make or break almost every play. In addition, lineman aren't just "big guys"; they are big, strong, athletic guys. It's why I have such a hard time with the draft, so many of these guys look great in college but simply can't run with the pros. |

I love the pick, but it amazed me how often there was a huge lane for Guice that I could have made it halfway through. That said, I can't wait to see Scherff bulldozing a LB to clear the way for Guice. This top ten video of Guice is fun to watch, but also shows those running lanes: [YT]hExFV4rygdTk[/YT] Watch the hit he puts on a defender at 3:30. The guy goes off his feet and flies backward. |
