Re: The Sam Howell Thread
At the end of the day , Howell will have his chance to prove it this yr. For all of the folks saying he's too small , Drew Brees and RW were also labled that and I think we would all take either of thise 2 in their prime. Not saying SH is those guys but height isn't a huge factor in today's NFL

What matters more though? An alleged draft grade or the reality of where he was picked? |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Daniel Jones is the worst QB in the division. That will be clear by mid-season.

Of course how he plays will be the ultimate deciding factor. But if you're looking at the history of 5th rd QBs typically they don't turn into franchise QBs. I'm all for giving him a shot, I just won't be surprised to see JB at some point, I don't see SH having a very long leash. |

On the board we keep saying keep drafting QBs until you find one. that position is so frustrating. |

Look at that throw down the sideline to McLaurin. I like that!

that position is so frustrating.[/quote] I could be wrong, but I think if you drafted Hooker, that was for the 2024 season - based on his injury. I don't think he's ready for a battle, or to start this season...at least not week 1. There's not enough reps to go around to have a three-way battle anyway, in my opinion. I'm glad they didn't draft a QB. Let Howell & Brissett battle...if they can't get it done, we'll be drafting a QB next year under a new staff. |

That's fair question.. Although Keim did say that we would have drafted Howell in the 2nd/3rd round pick if we hadn't traded for Wentz. Would you have felt differently if we did draft him in the 2nd round? Edit: just like a few others said, Howell is our best option given our cards so let's just roll with him and see where he takes us. |

You get a once sure fire top 10 pick falling into the fifth round. He may not pan out, but I put absolutely zero stock in the fact that he fell in the draft. It was 100 percent due to things out if his control. If he had come out the year before he would have been a first rounder. We were fortunate to get him in the fifth round. |

You don't think the league knew about the talent he lost? And considering the weak QB class he came out in he should have easily stood out. Let's not get into the height excuse when Bryce Young just went #1 at 5'10 and Kyler Murray in 2019 at the same height. Sorry man, not buying any of this. If he was a legit first round talent he would have gone in the first round. Again, I'll be rooting for him and I really hope he proves the doubters wrong, maybe we did find a gem, but history is not on our side when it comes to 5th rounders becoming stud QBs. |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
The one thing i like about the Sam is this is kinda the perfect situation for this team right now. A guy the team likes and based on the sale and new regime in waiting, if it fails…it won’t hurt down the road. Just this year.
Unlike the Haskins decision where the new regime in Ron was forced to give Haskins a look when we had the no 2 pick in the draft with solid QB options that year. We hear “set back” a lot, there was no truer of a definition of a franchise set back than that. Still disgusted by that move |
