I think that is a pretty reasonable target
If this team doesn't win 9 games in yr 4 Ron is gone |
The bugaboo will be the up and down nature of defense. There aren't many defenses that finish in the top 10 one year and then stay there the next.
We however should be a team that's equipped to do it given how disruptive we can be up front. But 2021 was a dropoff from 2020. Hope 2023 isn't a dropoff from 2022.
Another bugaboo will be whether or not Howell is the guy. We should expect some growing pains with him, and I don't know that it's fair to just declare him
...a QB who is way better than what we had...
after seeing him play in one regular season game. The other bugaboo is the schedule...10 of 17 games against playoff teams from last year... plus improved Jets, Broncos, and Bears teams... Won't be easy. All that said, if RR doesn't figure out a way to win at least 9 games and make the playoffs (not sneak in with a 8-9 record), he should be done. |

True, but Ron is betting his job on the fact that he is. Your right it was a bit of an exageration to say he will be way better, but our QBs were awful last year so it should not be too much to expect something much closer to competent starter level. |
Re: Josh Harris = New Owner!?
I don't think RR had much of a choice. He has to go with who is on the roster, but honestly it's not out of the question that Brissett could start the season as QB1.
I get that, and I'll probably keep middle fingering any screen he appears on for the rest of my life, but I don't need that to happen too often, if that makes any sense ^^
Complete sense. I should rephrase that I never want to see him again, just maybe a story in a couple years that he is divorced and broke or in jail or something along those lines,… |

RR's not betting anything because he's gone no matter what. |

He's better and has a higher floor. |
Re: Josh Harris = New Owner!?
Sam Howell does not get enough respect here. Bunch of haters lol.
We should be clinging to hope for every young QB that comes here. If we can add another couple solid OLineman in the draft, this offense is gonna bust on faces. |

Keim even said that if the team hadn't traded for Wentz, they would have drafted Howell in the 2nd or 3rd round. A lot of us likely would be clamoring for the team to start Howell if we drafted him in the 2nd round pick. I am and will continue to be Howell believer, unless he starts losing games for the team. |

I am leaning that way too but want to see it first LOL we've been fooled before |
Re: Josh Harris = New Owner!?
I don’t think SH has much to do with RR’s future. After Harris revamps the FO and has a real GM running the show, RR is history and the equation shifts to EB + SH = ? It’s all upside for EB until we see how he’s doing with his QB1 (SH or otherwise) into the ‘24 season.
This will be the first time in 25 years that we actually have a shot at developing a QB within a well-run system. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

He's 11 for 19 with 2 TD (one rushing) and 1 INT. That's his NFL career. Lol I think it's okay to "cling for hope" while also being skeptical about what he might become. He has a lot to prove. He could end up being the unquestioned starter here for a long time, or he could end up carrying a clipboard for most of his career (or somewhere in between). Like I've said before, there's not even a guarantee that he will start the season as the number one QB. He still has to beat out Brissett, which is not a given. |
