Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
A 14 point lead in the NFL is not anything significant. Teams come back from that type of deficit all the time.
|
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
Yeah but the contenders take that 14 point lead and turn it into an even bigger lead that teams can't come back from. We lack the killer instinct. Once we get leads we grow complacent and decide it's easy living from there on out, and it kills us every time. If this was the 2004 defense this game would've been over at 17-3. Instead it's the 2006 defense where no matter how big of a lead we have, we can't stop them in the end.

True enough. The Cardinals came back and almost ended up stunning the Ravens. And that was at least a 21 point defecit. |
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
We are not the Indys, NE, etc... of the NFL, nor are we the Raiders, Falcons, etc... of the league either. We are a growing team that is going to be a bit of a rollercoster ride this year. I would like to see this team make it to the Playoffs and be compitive through out the season but never do I think they are going to win the SB. This was a tough lost but we are still in it by a million miles. Remeber our playoff year in 2005 we lost to the Raiders at home that year can't get worse then that and we still made the playoffs.
Now we need to stop crying and cheer on the BEARS!!!!! |
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
The only thing that makes this loss that bad is that the Cowboys will probably beat the Bears. We need to keep up with the Cowboys and this year that will probably be a very tough job.

great point made |
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
the game goes into ot and we prolly win if portis gets those 1 or 2 handoffs... plain and simple that was the worst decision EVER.
|
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
First and goal on the one yard line with 50 seconds left. Run the ball with Portis 4 straight times. If we lose, we lose, but we go out giving it our best shot. This was a coaching debacle.

I just can't get over that. How do you win the TO battle and still lose? |
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
I knew as soon as I heard that Plaxico Burress was actually going to play today, we were in trouble. He is the biggest playmaker on the Giants, hands down. Sure enough, he was the difference today.
Of course, if we could just hand off the ball without fumbling it away, or if we could do better than a 3-and-out after the ST pick, we could have won easily. Oh, well...at least we still have a better record than the Chargers! :laughing2 |
I told you...had nothing to do with the O...it was the conservative play calling!
Yep, Gibbs shouldn't have rubbed that butter all over Portis' gloves at halftime. Fire the coach. We would've been fine with the playcalling in the second half if we weren't dropping the ball. Portis forgot how to catch AND take a handoff, Campbell fumbled a snap, Sellers dropped a potential game-tying TD (ask Dawkins if Sellers can run over anyone) and we just made too many mistakes to win. |
Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
Although, I was calling for a Sellers run on the last play.

Hard to get specific, but just watch the entire second half again until Campbell had to throw some deep balls. (although a few of them were due to penalties.) Short passes, too many runs etc. |

We definately took our shots in that game. On the last drive, we completed two "long" passes. 2/6 isn't a bad long pass completion rate for a half, its to be expected. So as you can see, only 1 time in the first 11 plays were they not conservative. The last two possessions were not very conservative cause we had to make a come back and throw on way too many downs. That's what happens when you call a poor game and then need to dig yourself out of a hole. |

Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
I'm not going to read this whole thread but has it been brought up that JC is starring down WR's and he missed about 6 to 7 plays where he had guys wide open. He does not starr them down on every play but he does do it very often and is missing allot of plays. I'm not bashing JC as he is young and these type of things happen as he is learning but I saw a bunch of our WR's in the 2nd half that were wide open.

Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
Well, I guess since the Pats did it with their team it will work for us?
That is worst argument I have ever heard you make. We are two different teams SS. The Pats have their entire O line in tact, we do not. They score in bunches, we do not. Their passing game is respected (which makes their running game work better), ours is not. They get 12, 19, 7 and 9 yards on first down (using your examples) in 4 out of the 5 drives, we do not, and did not. When you're effective on first down it opens a lot of things. I don't consider what they did conservative cause it works. It works for several reasons, many of which I already said. Worst comparison ever SS. You don't stick with what DOESN'T work! |
Well, I guess since the Pats did it with their team it will work for us?
That is worst argument I have ever heard you make. We are two different teams SS. The Pats have their entire O line in tact, we do not. They score in bunches, we do not. Maybe if I drew a picture on the back of a Chili's menu you'd get it. But forget it, I don't care to discuss this with you any further. I might as well discuss it with a paper plate. |

Anyway, you completely missed the point. Maybe if I drew a picture on the back of a Chili's menu you'd get it. But forget it, I don't care to discuss this with you any further. I might as well discuss it with a paper plate.
My sentiments exactly. You obviously weren't watching the game if you think they didn't play conservative. I spelled it out for you with our entire 3rd and 4th quarter drives...how you missed it is beyond me. ps- you're not discussing, you're pushing your warped opinion and you are wrong. Also, when you get on average 8 or 9 yards on first down, I could care less if you do it every down, cause it works. What we did, didn't work. Plain and simple. Have a great day SS. |

Re: Week 3: Giants at Redskins Game Thread
Someone......anyone...... can we get some first half highlights of this game? I know we lost, but I want to see those throwbacks again.
Where are you BJ. Are we only getting wins? |
