I think we need to go best bang for the buck and stick at #15. We need an impact player there and we should be able to get one, likely on D. A big no to WR at 15 though.

most likely just a camp body. If he makes it after the first wave of cuts, it means our guard situation is really really really bad. I mean, he couldn't make the Jags practice squad and their o-line was horrible.

After I misspelled Shawn Laouvo over and over again...this guy would be the easy transition to take over both roles as LG and likeliest player I misspell constantly.

Just have a look at the [URL="https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/02/08/aaf-puts-significant-limits-on-blitzes/"]AAF defensive restrictions[/URL] (basically no more than 5 blitzers, restrictions on stunts) : these guys don't even know the basics of adjusting pass protection.
As BHA said, these guys didn't even make one of the 32 practice squads, with teams, including us, having glaring OL holes...

Everyone has their projections and all that, Cooley knows TE's about as good as their is but he's not 100% right all the time. Just like Kiper, Mcshay etc aren't. Fant is a Jordan Reed type TE but a better blocker, in fact some would say he's better all around than Hockerson due to his route running.

That's interesting.

In the same Pod as his Hockenson film breakdown (#55) he was talking about how Fant's routes were sloppy and he couldn't block anyone.

He doesn't view Fant as a weapon other than as a downfield threat with his speed.

Word is Flowers is soft.....the only advantage he has as a guard is it will be a little easier for him to take on inside linebackers instead of edge rushers....but I'm quite concerned that he will get pushed back by stout defensive linemen.....that $4 million could all be for naught....I'm really not expecting much from Flowers.

Redskins get to #3 on worst free agent move list with Flowers. I had a feeling they would be on it. What I don't get is with all the glaring holes, the Redskins sign mostly trash in free agency. Those 9 draft picks won't even plug all the holes even if they all turn out to be gems.

Putting Flowers at #3 on that list is a little ridiculous. It's not a big money move and it doesn't prevent them from still drafting a guard. Honestly it's barely even a top 10 worst move IMO.

I would have been OK with it if it wasn't for the fact that he'll count $3.2M against the cap. That's too much for a guy who needs major, major work. He should have been paid like a guy who was fighting for a roster spot.

Exactly, a handful of small mistakes combined can have the impact of one major mistake cap wise.

If we don't draft a guard and he ends up playing and being the disaster we think he will be, I'd agree with it being a very boneheaded move.

I agree with this. Is the $3.2M cap hit guaranteed or does he has to make the roster?
What angers me even more is if we go into game #1 with Flowers and Tyler Catalina as out LG's. You can't make that shit up! Why has our FO undervalued LG year after year?

It's why last yr I wanted Nelson so bad, look what he did for the colts as a rookie LG.. Improved the run game and gave Luck more time to throw. They are building a solid roster there.

The #Redskins are signing DE Matt Ioannidis to a three-year extension with a base value of $21.75 million with another $3 million in incentives, source says. Former fifth-rounder from Temple is underappreciated by many (7.5 sacks last year), though clearly not by the Skins.
