Re: 2009 Free Agents
I don't think it'd hurt to talk to him. He's been a disappointment considering where he was drafted but he's young and he's got talent

Plus he played in a terrible Denver defense, maybe he'd do better for us. But once again, for the right price. On another note, here's another link about AZ tagging Dansby... it couldnt hurt, but i dont see him as being an upgrade over either Golston or Monty. Between Golston, Monty, Alexander, and Evans, we have plenty of "depth" on our d-line. what we need a truly dominant starter... something i doubt we find this year in free agency and the draft. |

I agree with that. But one thing that's kind of being overlooked is the free agents we have. Evans and Montgomery are both UFAs, Golston is an RFA. Griffin and/or Daniels could be cap casualties. I don't think there's a high demand for any of them and we're probably bring most, if not all, back. But it's not out of the realm of possibility that if the Redskins think there's a better alternative out there they'll let some of their free agents walk. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
First off who says we need a "speed back" yea I seen Sproles too and yea it would be nice to have "him" but Betts is no Ward and never will be.
A Portis/Ward combo would knock the crap out of any defense. Wards stats Derrick Ward - New York Giants - NFL - Yahoo! Sports Betts stats Ladell Betts - Washington Redskins - NFL - Yahoo! Sports Ward put up over 1000 yards and he had to share the stage with Jacobs who only put up 60 more yards than Ward. Jacobs put up 1089 yards. Together they put up 2100 yards. If you put Portis and Ward together in 2008 with there respected yardage we would have had 2500 rushing yards. Ill take that any day. Ward also avg 5.6 YPC vs Betts 3.4 YPC No contest here my friend. FYI Ward is not my FA pick. I was just responding to 53fan post on Jacobs. But I wouldnt say no to Ward thats for sure
So the Giants o-line comes as a package deal with Derrick Ward? Ladell Betts statistics 2006: Ladell Betts - Washington Redskins - Game Log - NFL - Yahoo! Sports Ward is a fine player, and someone should sign him to be their lead back for a couple of years (he is nearing the age when running backs tend to wear out, though he does not have a lot of carries on his body). The Redskins already have plenty of money committed to the running back position, though, so whatever you think of the current players it is not in the cards to add anyone of consequence there. Everyone knows that the O-Line is where they need to concentrate resources. It is obvious, it has been said over and over, but it is the simple truth. |

I guess I'll answer this. It was a joke intended for 53fan. See Post #183 But for the record. Portis did'nt need the Giants O Line and neither would Ward. How about giving the Skins O Line some credit for Portis' success. |

Wow, No credit to our O Line. Portis ran 1400+ yards all by himself. OK! |

DENVER DUMPS DRE’
Posted by Mike Florio on February 17, 2009, 8:13 p.m. After cutting six players on Monday, the Denver Broncos dumped a seventh guy on Tuesday. Gone is cornerback Dre’ Bly, according to the team’s official web site. Bly arrived via trade two years ago. He was due to earn a base salary of $3.25 million in 2009. The move makes him an unrestricted free agent. He spent his first four years with the Rams, then four with the Lions. |

When he and Champ are healthy they are pretty elite tandem, although both are on the wrong side of 30. |

Re: 2009 Free Agents
Would you look into signing Bly? I might sign him if I knew for sure we were going to release Springs. Remember Cerrato was jumping at the gun to trade for him last year. If we signed him to a reasonable deal would still have a heck of a trio (Hall, Rogers, Bly). What do you guys think?

But not at Springs' expense, necessarily.
