I think cases could be made for highlighting Vick and Leftwich as well.
Having JC highlighted as a very good QB with names like P. Manning, McNabb, Big Ben & Rivers is an absolute joke.
Idk how he highlights jc and cutler in the same names as manning rivers etc, how this guy thinks jc is a top qb is beyond me |
From 1998-2008, these are the quarterbacks drafted in the first round:
Peyton Manning Ryan Leaf Tim Couch Donovan McNabb Akili Smith Daunte Culpepper**** Cade McNown Chad Pennington**** Michael Vick**** David Carr Joey Harrington Patrick Ramsey Carson Palmer**** Byron Leftwich Kyle Boller Rex Grossman Eli Manning Philip Rivers Ben Roethlisberger J.P. Losman Alex Smith Aaron Rodgers Jason Campbell Vince Young**** Matt Leinart**** Jay Cutler Jamarcus Russell Brady Quinn**** That is a total of 28 quarterbacks...of those, I've bolded those who I think have been really good QBs. That means that roughly 70% (my apologies) are busts
i think al those with red would not be considered busts either and i throw lienart and quinn in there because they haven't really had an oppurtunity yet, and i hate vick but there is no way he is a bust, and carson palmer is one of the best qb's playing the game right now |

4 games in 2007 in a system he'd been in for a decade and who completes one long pass per game (how did he do in the 2nd half against KC?) doesn't offset a career of being a backup. |

Re: Do You Want Jason Campbell Back in 2010?
Interesting comments from Zorn today about if Campbell is a 'franchise QB'..
Zorn: Campbell's not yet a franchise QB Dec. 30, 2009 4:27 pm The main storylines of the Redskins' season are reaching their conclusions. Much of today's conversation centered around quarterback Jason Campbell's development and future. After an uneven season, it would seem that his future is as much in doubt now (if not more) as it was back in July. This afternoon, coach Jim Zorn offered what might be his most honest critique yet of his starting quarterback. It's interesting, and it's difficult to disagree with Z-Man on this: Can you assess Jason Campbell's growth since you started working with him? "I think even in this 16th game he still continues to improve. I think what he did this year was better than what he did a year ago. He showed this year that he can turn a receiver down, really read a coverage, read a progression and get the ball to the right guy. I don't think he has been as stuck on a single receiver like he was in the first year. Secondly, he has really improved his explosiveness away from the line of scrimmage. His getting rid of the ball, his release, has been much quicker than when I first got here. He's a bit of a threat when it comes to scrambling. Not every play, but when he takes off he can actually motor down the field a little bit and pick up yards. He hasn't improved his sliding ability. [Everyone laughs.] Those are some of the areas that I've been proud that he's come the distance that he has." Is Jason a starting quarterback in this league? "Well he is. I think of him as a starting quarterback. A lot of people want to just label every quarterback, he's got to be a franchise player. I don't know if that is where he's at. I don't think it is. But I think he just continues to improve as a starting quarterback in this league." Can he get to the level of a franchise quarterback? "Uh [3-second pause], I think the way he works, I think his grit, his determination, he can. But in every instance, the quarterbacks all have help from other guys. That remains to be seen."
Peyton Manning
Ryan Leaf - bust Tim Couch - bust Donovan McNabb Akili Smith - bust Daunte Culpepper - he had a nice career Cade McNown Chad Pennington - weak arm, but solid game manager Michael Vick - drafted for athletic ability, faded once folks knew how to stop him. Did lead Falcons to playoffs early in career. David Carr - bust Joey Harrington - bust Patrick Ramsey - bust Carson Palmer - Good career thusfar Byron Leftwich - had some solid years in Jax, led team to playoffs if I'm not mistaken. Kyle Boller - Bust Rex Grossman - did lead team to super bowl, but overall underperformed his draft status. Eli Manning Philip Rivers Ben Roethlisberger J.P. Losman Alex Smith Aaron Rodgers Jason Campbell - I wouldn't classify JC as a "really good QB". Vince Young - hasn't justified his draft position, but we'll see if he's a bust by his performance next year. Matt Leinart Jay Cutler Jamarcus Russell Brady Quinn - I'd like to see him with another team before he's classified as a bust. The dysfunction in Cleveland is worse than here. I'd actually like to see him brought in here for a shot. Are you saying we shouldn't draft a QB in the first round because 50% of these guys don't work out? Should we not have drafted JC in the first round (my opinion in hindsight is that Gibbs missed on this one)?
Not only did Gibbs miss on JC he gave away 3 draft picks to wiff. Talk about compounding the felony. |

LOL How does that support anything? That's an article basically saying "IF" or "Could be". I'm tired of arguing about JC, he's a decent player but we all know Shanahan won't keep him. I'm not dogging you Pain but c'mon man! |
