Ok this is where I show how smart I am. lol. NOT. I don't get the whole "red shirt" stuff. I know, I know. Poke fun all you want I can take it. Atleast I hope. lol.

The term redshirt freshman indicates an academic sophomore (second-year student) who is in his first season of athletic eligibility. A redshirt freshman is distinguished from a true freshman (first-year student) as one who has practiced with the team for the prior season. The term redshirt sophomore is also commonly used to indicate an academic junior (third-year student) who is in the second season of athletic eligibility. After the sophomore year, the term redshirt is rarely used, in favor of fourth-year junior and fifth-year senior.

So if I'm reading this are you saying he's in his fourth-year of school but is considered a Junior because of being red shirted?

He's a restricted free agent. Saints have no intention of letting him go. But he could start here

I'd love to give him a try again. He looked like he had much promise during that preseason. Far more than Rex or Beck.

All we can hope for is 3 - 13 and a good drat and free agent period.

He's arguably my favorite Redskin of the past five years.

Maybe the Saints will spend so much on keeping Brees that they'll have to let Chase go.

I wouldn't be against this at all, but let's not forget that we were optimistic of John Beck and Rex Grossman this year. Should we really go that route again?

Ummm I don't think any of us we're optimistic at all my friend ..... If anything we were 100% against it.... But had no other real options

While John Beck and Rex Grossman are on the last of their 9 lives here and would have been dead if we weren't interested in them, Chase Daniel has spent the past few years solidifying his status as Drew Brees' backup in New Orleans. He did not fail here. We just cut him because the personnel guys wanted to keep Colt Brennan just like they kept Betts and Carwright: competition does not exist in Vinny-land.

We looked at Brecks because they had potential upside, not because they were sure to produce concrete results. Chase Daniel has far more upside than either.

Haha, I'd love to agree with you.. But I would say more than half of us around here were drinking the Rex and Beck-aid. Shanahan was very insistent that these guys were more than capable.

Ok, so if we have a chance to draft a Matt Barkley or Landry Jones, who both have undeniable upside compared to Daniels, would you do it? Or would you prefer a Blackmon/Jeffrey + Daniels combo..

I would definitely have to think long and hard.
