So you think Luck is just a pocket passer?
Yes. simply put. Compared to RGIII, Luck is more of a pocket passer I think. I know you'll throw out the yrds he had in college but I'd still say he tends to stay in the pocket more and go through his progressions more so then RGIII. Andrew Luck Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Stanford Cardinal - ESPN In most of his games he had anywhere from 1-3 run attempts. Robert Griffin III Stats, News, Videos, Pictures, Bio - Baylor Bears - ESPN Robert had anywhere from 6 to 26 run attempts per game. |
You and I are not thinking of the same teams for PM. I'm looking for a solid team that has a good but not great QB to make a bold, risky move to go for the Super Bowl in the 2012 season. I'm not saying that the team that signs him will be making a wise choice, but more of a desperate choice.
For example, the Jets. They were a huge disappointment this past season. They have a QB who may not be good enough to back up the bravado of their big-mouth coach. PM might give them a chance to go to a SB. Another example is the Ravens. If Ray Lewis and Ed Reed come back for one last hurrah, they'll do it to win a Super Bowl. In Baltimore, what Ray Lewis wants, Ray Lewis gets. Is PM the final ingredient for the Ravens to win another SB? I think he could be. PM to Baltimore is not out of the question IMO.
I forgot about the Jets. Your right. Ravens I really don't see why they should. But you bring up a good point with Lewis. |
I like RGIII, but the Colts would be insane to pass over Luck. I just don't see it happening unless someone knocks their socks off with a trade offer.
The same was said about Locker and the Panthers took Newton. |

Running plays? Passing plays? What was the percentage of Luck running based on number of plays compared to that of RGIII? I think you need to look more into the numbers than just that. |

Maybe I'm coming from a totally different dimension but I could have sworn at this time last year all the way leading up to the draft most Mock drafts had Locker going 1st. Even Luck going 2nd but Luck chose to stay in college. It wasn't until after the Combine that Newton started making headway. I think he pushed himself with the interview with Gruden. |

But Locker was the top triangle and Newton was the top sphere. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
To my eye Luck, Griffin and Tannehill are outstanding athletes for the QB position with very similar physical traits that separate them from the other QBs in this class. (excpet for Wilson but he has a different problem)
They all possess a skill that I think is critical when I look at QBs: playmaking, the ability to turn a negative play into a positive and in this regard all 3 are above average playmakers. All three can throw very well on the run/move (which is a critically important trait that some elite QBs possess Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Mike Vick, Ben Rothlisberger etc). Luck, Griffin and Tannehill can can all extend plays with his legs by evading pressure and can also gain chunks of yards that extend drives with his legs. Griffin's speed makes him the most dynamic but Tannehill is no slouch either having been a good WR and Luck is also an above average athlete too. They all throw the ball well. Griff has the best deep ball and Luck is the most consistent. I think Tannehill has the best arm talent of the trio and can throw with more velocity then both Luck/Griffin. I think they're about the same level in throwing motion. I think Tannehill has a quicker release and a cleaner throwing motion then the other 2 but he sometimes throws from a 3/4 to almost side arm delivery which makes his throwing motion the least consistent. (Or I think Tannehill has the best throwing motion when he's doing it right but he's not always doing it right.) However their is a clear distinction or separation between Luck/Griffin and Tannehill. Where Tannehill is raw Luck/Griffin are both high efficiency QBs that exhibit high level command of their respective team's passing offense.(But I would be remiss not to mention that both also have more offensive talent then Tannehill) But imo the attributes that prevent Tannehill from being on the same tier as Luck/Griffin (i.e efficiency and command) are attainable through experience and coaching. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
the formula for spheres is too complex for me to wrap my head around. a squared-headed emcee couldn't parallel me with a rhombus

That was two years ago. Some people thought he would have gone ahead of Bradford in 2010. Last year it was actually considered a bit of a reach when Tennessee took him 8th. |
Re: Eight QBs and Where The Latest Rumors Have Them Going
I think a guy like Tannehill will be this years Locker, taken around 10 - 15 and will play in his rookie season.
