Are we making our decisions based off one game against a terrible team that spent a week preparing for the other guy?
With Griffin out things should have gotten easier for the Jags D, not having to worry about the read option and running threat.

Doesn't happen in quality organizations.
Isn't it a damned shame that it's completely reasonable to think that things other than who gives us the best chance to win will be at play?

And that those things will come from Snyder?

It's enough to make me want to quit caring when I realize that the future QB of this team may be made because of marketing decisions, jersey sales, 'popularity', or because we spent draft picks on the guy.

Sickening.
Look at the Patriots the last couple years with Welker and Mankins.

I don't think any organization is immune from politics having an impact on decisions.

No instead they had to worry about a QB that could read the field, not take off at the first sense of pressure, and could get rid of the ball before being hit. Just saying, there is something to be said for game prep for their different styles.

It happens in my office and workplaces throughout the country
Gruden's got to make sure he treads carefully though. Breath of fresh air in the short term to call out players. [B]But there will be times he needs to absorb all the blame-Gibbs style-deserved or not
I think he did that several times last week after the Texans game.

Generally speaking I agree with you, but we've seen backup QB's come in and play lights out before despite not being better than the one they're filling in for (we've seen plenty do it against us...)

You prepare for certain things then you have someone total different come in with a different style, different set of abilities, and potentially different set of play calls.

You guys want to use 3 1/2 quarters against Jacksonville to anoint Cousins a play maker as a QB - go right ahead :)

I'll wait and see what the whole body of work of a season looks like. When he's the one getting the reps all week, and when he's the one the defense is preparing against. :)

I think most teams would rather play a pocket QB vs a guy that can run and make plays on the edge.

I'm not really familiar with those moves or how they were driven by an owner concerned about marketing and/or the 'popularity' of the player?

The bottom line is there are a lot of fans that think that Snyder will have a say in the matter, and that his say will be influenced by marketing/popularity/money and not winning.

And those fans have a legit reason for thinking that.

That's not how quality organizations are run. That's how the Cowboys are run. That's how the Redskins were run under Ceratto and Snyder. Quality organizations let 'stars' leave, or sit on the bench, when someone better is available. Quality organizations are interested in winning, not how many jerseys a guy sells.

Saying Helu was out to lunch probably wasn't the best way to put it.

I'm not sure I agree with that. Mobile QBs can be frustrating, but a skilled pocket passer can roll right over defenses.

Would you rather play Peyton Manning in his prime, or Michael Vick?

I know neither of our QBs are anything like them, but I'm just making a point.

It's more difficult to prep for a running QB because of the off script plays. And coverages tend to break down as the play extends leading to big plays. At least with a pocket guy you know where he's going to be all the time. A guy that can run and throw just adds a different dynamic. With Cousins in there you can bet the Jags weren't worried about him taking off.

Worthless drivel. Totally different team and totally different situation. Any team that got that kind of production from a draft pick making his 5th career start would be doing cartwheels. Let's see what he can do with a full season.
