I believe that you and mooby have solved the team name issue. We can change the name to Washington Dumpster Fires. The flames logo will look cool.
First of all, I'm not defending RG3's performance and it is obvious there are issues with him.

That being said, if two coaches are telling me that their QB needs to work, and they can't get that said QB to put in the work. The problem lies within the coaches, just as much as it lies with the coaches. And let's not forget how much power Shanahan had in the organization.

I'm pretty positive that if you take away all the commercials and all the branding and all the media exposure, RG3 would still have the same problems that he has today.
Well how does it lie with the coaches if he doesnt put in the "extra" work. He got his ass benched. What else can they do?
I don't think it was the time spent on commercials that Sharp was criticizing; it was his mentality. The mentality that he had already made it; he was a superstar. The branding of RGIII was more important then the development of RGIII.

For example this commercial.

They branded his recover from knee surgery.
The hilarious part about that "all in for week one" commercial is that it didn't show the main aspect of being a QB. Film study. Too busy focused on the body, and neglected the main part.

I agree with the sentiment though because I said exactly the same thing on the /r/Redskins subreddit. Robert starting acting like he was a superstar before he actually became one.

Well he did have a superstar rookie season, nobody was really complaining about the commercials back then and we were all eating it up. He definitely cut way back on that stuff since then to be fair.

I really like Colt. Humble and mature. Call me a homer but I'm already hoping he earns the starting spot for years to come. So hard to find a franchise QB and we're due for some good fortune after so many gdamn disappointments.

If Colt becomes the guy, we can focus on other team weaknesses in FA/draft and be competitive at least next year.

My friend, Colt is not nor ever will be a franchise QB. One characteristic of a franchise QB is that he has to have an arm so strong that he can threaten the defense with a deep ball. He doesn't have to throw deep, he just has to have the threat. Without this threat, defenses cheat against the run and the short pass alike.

The Texas Noodle's arm doesn't threaten even my grandma.

I've seen several guys with average arms that were great QB's. Some are in the HOF. Not saying Colt is one of those guys cause he's not, but he has enough arm to get the job done.

Well sir, there's some wiggle in the noodle debate. P Manning doesn't have much of an arm these days, but accuracy and intelligence offsets the one weakness.

Maybe Colt can be a Chad Pennington type QB, perfect for a system with high accuracy and football IQ. Or maybe he needs to hit the weights lol.

Stop killing my optimism.ds

I don't know about the franchise QB part but I think you're bashing him just for the sake of bashing him and his arm isnt any where near as you describe it.

I agree that Peyton's arm is not the strongest, but certainly you are not equating his arm with Colt's flimsy equipment.

And in my argument I was actually thinking about Pennington. He failed as a franchise QB and became a journeyman backup precisely because of his weak arm.

Here's some optimism: since even a blind squirrel finds a nut, I am hoping that we can be lucky at QB for once. Maybe we will bring in Bradford and he will change and become durable. Or maybe we'll bring in Locker and find that he has finally gotten his act together. Or maybe someone else - QB's are unpredictably released every year.

IMO McCoy does not have an average arm. McCoy's arm is so weak that it is sometimes painful to watch.

Name one HoF QB who had not just a weak arm, but an arm as weak as McCoy's wet paper towel of an arm.

I'm not bashing him to bash him. He's my favorite QB on our roster.

I think his lack of arm strength is obvious and so do several other Warpath members. Think what you will.
