One thing I really like about the Culliver and Johnson signings is that both players have reputations as good tacklers. The poor tackling of our secondary players has been driving me crazy for years and I'm certain that I'm not alone. Is relief finally on the way? Let's hope so.

I agree about the tackling. I also hope that the newcomers can actually keep to their assignments so we can avoid the many blown coverages that plagued us last year. |

I like it. Well done. |
Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
Reports on both Culliver and Johnson from former teammates and coaches is that they are disciplined in their assignments. They should both boost our defense along these lines.

Re: Redskins 2015 Signings (and Re-Signings) Thread
I remember when the sentiment was that fans would rather have a strong offense that can score a lot of points, rather than a defense that can keep the other team out of the end zone. Well, we've had that for the past few years now, and it hasn't worked. I think we're seeing that what always makes a team strong is solid offensive and defensive lines, and an overall solid defense. Hopefully Scot finds some offensive linemen in the draft, but I'm really liking what I'm seeing in this offseason.

Can't wait to see what Johnson is made of. Sounds like a very solid addition to special teams, and quite possibly the safety help we have needed for a long time. Love how competitive he sounds.
“That’s my plan—to come in and compete for the starting job,” Johnson told Larry Michael on Redskins Nation. “I don’t want anything handed to me. [I’m going] to come in and compete. I’m just going to be me. I can’t promise you anything but me, Jeron Johnson. I’m a competitor. I want to compete and I want to win.” http://www.csnwashington.com/redskinsblog/new-redskins-jeron-johnson-plans-start-i-plan-delivering-blow-seattle-seahawks And if you haven't YouTubed his name yet here you go...still stings like a bitch https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1WknnBsjAOk |

Under Gregg Williams and Greg Blache the Redskins had excellent tackling from the secondary....under Haslett's watch the tackling was piss poor in the secondary....it seems to be a personnel issue...the players in the secondary just weren't very good... |
