Shiner Ruby Redbird is my summer beer of choice. Also, Karbach Weekend Warrior Pale Ale is great, but only available in Houston, for now.

I hate fruity beers. Leiny's summer shandy on a hot day is the tits though.

on the 4th of july i demanded my woman go and get me a sixer. Since she was going to the new liquor store at the corner and i wasnt sure what their selection was, i sent her with specific orders.

1st choice is an IPA from flying dog only;

2nd choice is regular sam adams (being independence day and all)

very clear instructions.

so of course she comes back with this sam adams "rebel" ipa ....which of course tasted not so great.

* i write demand here bc it makes me feel better. my lady runs me and i am basically her whipping boy, employee and provider of the bottomless wallet. how it really went down is she was was going to the store and i meekishly asked her to get me a six with those specific orders.

Wife went to a friend's house the other night and bought a 6er of Uinta Sum'r Summer Ale to have. She brought a few home and I had one. Quite tasty, very drinkable on a hot day. In fact, I may wander back to the fridge and see if there is another one...

So Six Point Brewery brewed a special beer for the Phish shows in NYC this past weekend. Vlad the Impale-ale-er. It was delicious. If I could have figured out a way to bottle some for the road I would have.

Had two over this past weekend...

Agave Cerveza | Flying Dog BreweryFlying Dog Brewery - Pretty good summer time beer. If you remember Tequiza, this is the smarter, better-looking distant cousin that you don't mind being seen out in public with.

Kona Brewing Company | Fire Rock Pale Ale - Didn't like it too much straight from the bottle. So I poured the next one in a glass, and the longer it sat, the better it was.

Wow so the midas touch is not good. White grapes belong in wine. Not happy but ill push on through
Edit: decided to switch to six point resin. Ill save the dogfish for guests when they are drunk enough that anything will do.

Grabbed a pint while I waited for some food to be made last night.

Elysian Brewing Company - SuperFuzz Blood Orange Pale Ale - Nice hoppiness but not overly bitter. Good citrus flavor.

Then went next door to the beer shop and made a 6er. Had 4 of the 6.

Nectar IPA Beer - Humboldt Brewing Co. - Great hoppiness. Definitely worth a try.

Session Premium Lager | Full Sail Brewing Co - Smooth drinking lager. Would be a nice jumping point for non-craft drinkers

Rumble IPA | Great Divide | - Great IPA with a very caramel aftertaste. It was almost weird. You get the hoppiness as you drank, and then this smooth caramel vanilla favor on the back end.

Allagash Brewing Company - Black - Ended the night with the Allagash Black. Great stout beer.

Have an Allagash White and a Oskar Blues G'Knight left to drink.

You'll find the Union Jack on many IPA top-ten lists, and the Double Jack is likewise high on the best-of-DIPA lists. Both are worthy, IMO. I was lucky enough to get on a list at a local beer store for the annual release of the Firestone Stickee Monkey, a Belgium quad style aged in whiskey barrels. I'm letting it age a little (got the bottle in June). Bottom line is that you ought to give at least the Union Jack a try.

Just found out I've probably got Celiac disease :-(

Still have to undergo biopsy to confirm, but pretty lame.

Anyone know of any good GF beers? The Omission was pretty good. I've had redbridge and haven't been impressed. I'm more of an IPA guy myself.

here is the list of beers for Fenwick in silver spring which has a vast selection ..

Fenwick Beer and WIne - List of beers we sell

walked down to fenwick .. they didnt have russian river, bell's or ballast point but thankfully they did have a sixer of firestone walker union jack which cost $19. I was hoping to at least get an IPA from one of those 4 brewers.

fenwick is pricey (a sixer of dales is $13.99) so i imagine the firestone usually goes for $14 or so.

at $19 a sixer, that is not a receipt i want the wifey to find.

had a draft of baltimore beerworks "tell tale heart" IPA as we had dinner at annabelle lee's a few weeks ago, it was really really good.

Anyone scored one of the Sierra Nevada "Beer Camp" 12's?? My buddy found one at the total wine, now I'm on the hunt. Pretty cool idea, teamed up with 12 different breweries and are selling all 12 different brews in a limited time 12 pack. There's also a few tour stops across the country this summer. Shocker no DC love.

i couldnt find anything bells, ballast point or russian river from fenwicks or max's tap house this weekend. after reading about the sly fox ipa on here and trying and loving it, i am trying to break out of my flying dog shell.

was really looking forward to trying something from russian river and thought for sure Max's would have it ...

firestone walker union jack ipa - good, a little to smooth and not hoppy enough for me

firestone walked double jack - really good, had a draft at max's. i think i prefer double ipas over ipas at this point

laughing ipa - had from cask, it was okay. didnt taste like an IPA ..

anyone know where i can find some russian river around the DMV?

Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I get your beer?

Follow this link to see a list of our accounts, but keep in mind that some accounts may not always have our beer.

Do you ship directly to consumers from your brewery?

No, we do not. We have done so in the past, but liquor laws are getting more and more complicated in the “reciprocal” shipping states. But the main reason is we just don’t have enough beer!

I have a store / restaurant / wholesaler and would like to carry your beer. How can I do that?

We are currently not able to accept any new accounts or distributors at this time. We are having a difficult time keeping up with demand as it is! There are certainly worse problems to have ;-) Both breweries are at capacity now and we are planning to stay the course for a while - pay off some bills, focus on beer quality, and keep the investors happy!

Are you planning to expand your brewery to meet such high demand?

We have been growing organically each year since we opened and have mostly reached capacity at both breweries. At this time, we have no plans for any major expansions. Our focus is on quality not quantity!

SO thats the problem. They have a distributor in Philly

The only time that ive had their beer is from my uncle in Maryland who is a 25 year home brewer who beer trades through the mail with folks from the west coast. He's also made Pliney clones which are damn tasty

Good luck finding it. It's been selling out almost as soon as places get it. Plus it's quite expensive at 25 bucks a 12 pack. Some are very good some are very average. I'm about halfway through mine now.

i had a dream last night that i was at a beer store and saw a 4 pack from russian river.

i got really excited thinking how in the hell does this store in Md carry it. i concluded they must buy it second-hand from a place up in philly and probably pay a premium ...

i then grabbed it and realized it wasnt an IPA but just their ale and then i stood there debating whether to get it or not.

on one hand i want to try russian river but on the other hand it was just an ale ... i was leaning towards getting it and then i woke up.

im pretty disappointed my fridge only had the truth sitting in there this morning.
